lol the Canucks didn't even play that bad, until the second half of the game when they sort of lost their confidence because of the gaffe and it being 4-0. at least Burrows got one at the end so it wasn't a shutout :\

Oh god Habs, why are you sucking so much? Why does every team, including ones which are way below you in the standings, outshoot you by an insane margin? It's sad... We have one of the easiest schedules in the NHL over the last part of the season, and I have no confidence we'll be able to make the playoffs anymore.

The Oilers, like many teams, are fighting for their playoff lives at the moment. We've won 3 straight, and face the Wild this afternoon. It's looking like our young players are starting to light it up, especially Sam Gagner. I don't see the Oilers making it past the first round, but it'll be good experience for our young team, but of course, anything can happen.

Brodeur ties the shutout record at 101 against the Minnesota Wild tonight.

Anyway, One step closer to the playoffs after two impressive wins at home. We swept the Devils away two nights ago, and played one crazy game against the Islanders. After leading 2-0 after the first, we let in four unanswered but came back. LaRose is seriously stepping up his game, and got two goals tonight. Other than that Babchuk has been hot and had two goals against the Devils the other night.

Cole has definitely spawned some energy after his return. We look like an entirely different team now. I don't even want to shut the TV off when we're losing, cause we play great hockey at the moment and seem to catch up with everything.

Next up the Caps!

Go Canes Go!

Even though Cole didn't produce the kind of points the Oilers were looking for, he was very popular here. The guy works his ass of every shift, hits, drives hard to the net, and has got some wheels. Too bad something couldn't have been worked out to have him resigned. He was starting to produce more. I'm glad he's playing well for the Canes.

Happenin' to the Habs? I like it a lot!

Yeah, I haven't been unhappy about any games since Cole came back, except maybe the Thrashers-game. We have been playing very well, and I believe we have a fair shot on the playoffs. We're on a 8-game win streak at home, which is the best since we won the cup. Caps on the other hand, have been sketchy lately, and doesn't look to have the same go they had earlier.

Flyers lead the Pens late in the third, which is good for us. We're one point behind the Pens who is the only team with the same ammount of games left. Flyers has three games in hand, and the teams below us has two. If we win against the Panthers I hope we'll be able to exclude them. I liked their collapse last night. That was hard on their five fans.

As much as I wan't the Leafs to lose and blow this team up (ok not really but kinda). Beating the Habs on their home turf always feels amazing. Mikhail Grabovski has been playing amazing lately and it just happens to be even more awesome that a game against the Habs he decides to have a 4 point night. Hands of stone Ponikarovski also had a 4 point night as well. I think the best part of the night was when the Habs fans were chanting "Leafs Suck" over and over again, then the Leafs scored and then 23 seconds later they scored again. I was a little scared that we might lose when the Habs made it 4-2, but I would never admit that. I can't wait for next season when the Leafs will have even more rookies in their line-up. Then we can prove to the league that our "Cupboards" are not as bare as everyone thinks they are.

As for the Brodeur thing, 101 ties 102 passes. Just so you know... WRONG

That hit to AO was awesome. He deserved it after that stupid celebration after he scored his 50th. I knew it was coming, and it's awesome that a vet like Brindy did it. Hopefully now AO will know where his place is.

The Habs wont make the playoffs. I am calling it now. Their goaltending is not so hot. They are giving up way too many shots, and their scorers aren't scroing. It will be a rough 2 weeks for Les Habitants...

Yeah, he looked pretty stunned after that one. As for the celebration, he gotta learn to show more respect. Both after that one, and in general, therefore, I'm glad Brindy hit him like he did.

Their coach took some shots at the refs after the game. Wonder if that'll see any consequences

It was funny while he was celebrating his goal, his teammates (Mike Green, Nik Backstrom) wanted nothing to do with it. And it was Green who actually got Ovechkin to stop. Nobody even knew what he was doing, he had to explain himself to the media afterwards. In other words, it was very stupid. I hope he gets hit again, hard.

Don Cherry on Ovechkins goal and other league goings on.

If you hate Don Cherry, you are a fag.

Don Cherry is an idiot. I'm looking forward to the day when Ron McLane finally snaps and starts beating him with his chair. He's loud, obnoxious, inane, and bigoted. Seriously one of the worst sports commentators ever.

And not that I was a big fan of Ovechkin's 50th goal celebration, but Ovechkin is exciting to watch because he's so into it- celebrating every goal like he's a fourth liner who gets one a season. That's why he's so exciting to watch.

Don Cherry has done so much for the game, the fact that you call him an idiot hurts me to read that. You don't like him becuase you are from Quebec and he doesn't like your precious Habs. Well no fuckin' duh he use to coach the Boston Bruins. Who was/still is one of the biggest rivalries in the NHL? Yeah go figure. How dare he have an opinion and voice it? I'll admit that his age is catching up with him and he is starting to lose touch with the players of the game, and I don't agree 100% with some of his comments. But is he entertaining? Yes. Is he right more than he is wrong? Yes. Not only does he know his hockey, but what he does for the troops every week is also great. But he's still an idiot. Jesus Price. As for one of the worst sports commentators ever... get over yourself and and your man crush on the Habs and all thins Hab related.

As for Ovechkin, I like him. He is by far one of the best players in the league. I wouldn't say the best, because his defensive game is somewhat lacking. I'd take a 40 goal scorer in say Henrik Zetterberg or Pavel Datsyuk who can also be me best checking line over Ovechkins 60 goals and having to take him off the ice for key own-end faceoffs. But, his goal celebration is stupid. I agree with what Cherry and mostly everbody else had to say about it. And it looked good on Ovechkin when he got hit face first into the boards by Rod Brindamour.

Thanks for all your assumptions, DW. I don't give a shit if Cherry likes the Habs or not; I care that he's loud and obnoxious and comments on the most inane things- maybe every tenth time I watch him I catch him saying something insightful, and usually that's because Ron McLane set him up for it. He's not even funny; he's just loud and politically incorrect- his constant yammering about Canadian hockey players at the expense of Europeans is really quite annoying, as is his intentional mispronunciation of every European players' name. And his bias is really over the top for a professional journalist- he'll excuse his favourite players for awful hits and then go after the ones he doesn't like for the stupidest reasons. He's like the NHL equivalent of John Madden, except Madden seems like a slightly nice guy and not a racist. The only reason to watch Coach's Corner is for Ron McLane, who usually actually has something intelligent to say, when Cherry lets him open his mouth for more than 3 seconds without interrupting.

Racist?

Seriously?

He doesn't like the Euro game. I guess you are use to it in Montreal though, seeing as how that's how they've played for several years now. Heartless rats who take cheapshots. Don't get me wrong, some Euros are good. But a prime example of a dirty euro is that slew foot that one Kostitsyn did to Schenn earlier in the season. Or the hit Malkin threw on that kid in LA. They play dirty, and he calls them out. Like they should be. And it's not like he only calls out the Euros. He's called out Avery, Tucker, Brett Hull, even Wayne Gretzky, just to name a few. The man knows hockey, you just dislike him too much to notice. It's sad really.

Oh come on, this is such a stupid stereotype, as is the "heartless rats who take cheapshots" stereotype. Yes, players like Saku Koivu, Mats Sundin, Nikolas Lidstrom, and hell, even Alexander Ovechkin (just to name a few most prominent players) clearly have no heart and don't care about their teams at all. I thought we'd all gotten past the stupid European stereotypes when Detroit won last year, but I guess not.

And yes, Cherry continually harping on those gosh darned Europeans and french Canadians is pretty racist, or at the least, xenophobic. And yes, he does attack other players, but in the main, he's willing to excuse non-Europeans and Francophones, which he never does the other way around. Key point: His defence of Jamie McLennan's slash on Franzen, which he tried to fully justify. There's just no reason to care what Cherry thinks- I like my sports commentators to be classy, articulate, passionate and intelligent. Cherry has the passion down, but without the other three, it's impossible to take him seriously.

Good God it was awesome the ugliest fucking team in the league. Everything about them is just not cool. Their announcer have to be one of the worst I have heard ever. I mean, I could've done better. i'm sure you've heard him and all his stupid movie-quotes before. Completely lackluster when it comes to knowledge and I actually chose to listen to this instead.

And what the hell, a sellout crowd tonigh in Florida only 3/4 of them were dressed as seats. Why on earth does Florida have two teams?

Yeah, nice win on a bad day, as we made a lot of mistakes but magaed to grab this in overtime. It's good to win on those days as well. Next up is Ottawa who is 9-1 in their last ten. That one is going to be hard, and I don't expect us to win at all. Would be aweseome with none W's in a row at home, tying the record we had the same season we grabbed the cup..

GO CANES!

I never said that I don't like all Europeans. Obvisouly not, the captian of my team for 13 seasons was a Swede, and he is one of my all time favourite players. I also said that I don't 100% agree with everything he says, but I still enjoy what he has to say. He has an opinion and he voices it, it's not always right but at least he has the balls to say what he wants. Yes he is getting older and senile and losing his way, but I still tune in every week to hear what he has to say. I'm not saying that everybody has to like him, but to hate him because he voices his opinion is stupid.

Florida has 2 teams because Gary Bettman is an idiot. One, if not both, should either fold or relocate.

As for the Ottawa game, you guys better let the Sens win. They sit 1 point ahead of us, and if they beat you guys they'd be 3 up on us. Now we just need a loss to the Caps tonight and all is well.

Habs for sale? Wow.

God... I'm sorry DW but we won. After a flying first period, we showed our sloppy selves, and Cam kept us more or less in the game with a couple of dandies. As did Elliot for the Sens who was just impossible today. Still got a few pucks past him, and another nice win on a not so great night. Overall better than the Florida game though, and I'm glad we were able to come back after trailing.

Whitney got his 500th NHL assist, and Brindy scored again. His sixth in nine I believe. IUt's good that he has stepped his game up after the miserable first half of the season, and it's good to have out captain back. Babchuk scored his 14th of the year, and I seriously believe that if he can be as consistent as this next year, he could easily compete with the Caps' Green in terms of D-man goals.

And we tied our home-streak record at nine, which we last saw the year we won the cup. A sign maybe? I would like to hope so at least, as we stay in fifth with six games left. We also set a season high winning-streak at five, which is comforting. Great, next up the Devils! GO CANES!

I'm sorry Thomas, but Anton Babchuk will not ever score 30 goals. He couldn't even make an NHL team last season, and this year on a contract year he plays good. Now I know he has become quite the scoring machine lately, but Babchuk is not in the same league as Bobby Orr or Paul Coffey. Bobby Orr is arguably the greatest player of all time, now Mike Green is putting up Orr type numbers. I don't know where I am going with this exactly, but Babchuk will never score 30+ goals in the NHL.

And how dare you not let the Sens win. I asked very nicely.

Maybe not.... All I'm saying is that is that if he can keep his consistensy up, he might make twenty at least.

Now let me have hopes, you!
