I've always preferred Storm Before Calm myself.. That said, Spirit the Earth Aflame is close behind. I don't get so much of The Gathering Wilderness (save The Coffin Ships) or To the Nameless Dead, somehow... oh well.

Their earlier stuff doesn't appeal to me that much because of all the growling. I much prefer the style in e.g Empire Falls.

I can understand that. The Gathering Wilderness took some time for me to like parts of it.. maybe I need to give the latest one a chance. I remember Heathen Tribes to be by far my favorite on that album.

Great CD, but one think I don't understand, is why they took the best track off here (Burning Season) and made it a bonus track on Storm Before Calm.
