I liked this album, and I'd rather give maybe a 75 or closer to 80. This is a pretty good review, but what the hell is this:

and the fact that they were based in Canada

suppose to mean?

Relax....I'm Canadian too...There's an interview with John Ricci on the promo version of this disc and he even stated that being based in Canada and not relocating to the US in the early to mid 80's where metal and in particular speed/thrash metal was starting to thrive was a big mistake. According to him, the Canadian music industry did not put enough support behind the band in the beginning and when Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax came out, they grabbed all the glory and although hugely influential to those three bands, Exciter got left behind....

You know what, you are right. On the remastered Heavy Metal Maniac there is some old interviews where he says the same thing.

Don't let my score detract you from picking up this album if you like Exciter and the raw and reckless style of early 80's speed metal.

It wont.

Haven't heard it, but I am ever so skeptical; It just ain't Exciter without Beehler, somehow.
Heavy Metal Maniac is where they hit their brain melting pinnacle, way back when they were on Shrapnel.
In short: why bother when there is HMM to vaporize your eardrums with?

I hear what you are saying, but give this a shot. It's the best you'll hear any band trying to recapture the HMM sound. Plus it's better than most of the other new speed/thrash out there.

Plus, have you heard Beehler lateley? He has sadly lost his voice. He sounds horrible now.

Mayhap I will and no I have not.
I thought he went the way of Kim Ruzz...

He did a bonus track on the last Annihilator album. Just a re-recording of Heavy Metal Maniac. Boy was it bad.
