Just got back from a local Lansing show, where I caught Satyrisis, Genocya, Wastelander, Vala, Hammer Hoard, Sauron, and maybe some other bands that I can't remember. I may not have spelled all of those correctly, but I don't care. Nights like these make me miss my long hair, though.

So Cynic was amazing. They only played Celestial Voyage off of Focus. No Veil of Maya or Textures. Masdival (sp?) hinted at a US headlining tour this fall. They had those cool guitars with nothing at the end of the neck for lack of a better description. The bassist looked like he was from the Matrix with plastic tubing going to his ear set and headbanging all psychedelic-y. I didn't realize that Masdival didn't do the growls.

Daath sucked and the one DragFest song I stayed for was awful. The vocals were turned up way too loud and does the drummer seriously blast on the double bass drums the whole song?

So Sleepytime Gorilla Museum was fucking awesome. It was like being in a haunted mansion that's underwater, and the mansion's filled with creepy dolls and shit. It was chilling.

Isn't that the name of the unknown murderer in L.A. Confidential?

Cattle Decapitation was so fucking amazing. The vocalist blew me away. Not only did he catch his own spit in the air but the dynamics of his vocals are so fucking impressive. Screams to growls to pig squeals he goes through it like nothing.

Holy shit. The place that all these bands are playing at is fucking tiny, it's going to be insane!

Not so sure about Cryptopsy, if it turns out to be cheap as fuck, I might go, but considering how shitty the last album was...
