The Ducks will be in tough against the Wings. They take too many penalties and the Wings PP is deadly. But then the Ducks probably have the best d-core in the NHL. Will be a good series none-the-less.

Cheering for both the Rangers and the Canes tonight... Do not want to meet the Bruins in the next round.

man the Ducks were awesome vs the Sharks, whole series long. can't wait to watch them vs the Wings. didn't watch the Calgary game tonight but i feel kinda sorry for them when they had 43 shots vs Blackhawks' 16 but still lost 4-1

The stat is a little misleading though. I fell asleep for part of the 3rd period, but a good many of the shots the Flames were getting were not real good scoring chances (i.e. a backhand from a bad angle 20' out that managed to be on goal somehow). On the other hand, the first two Hawk goals were in the first 5 shots I believe, but they were tough goals, nobody was stopping those. Especially the second goal from Buff to Burish. Kipper should have been yelling at his D for being lazy and out of position on that one.

As I said in one of my posts, Kipper can't be blamed. The rest of the teams needs to show up. 4 years in a row the Flames get ousted in the 1st round. Same goes for the Sharks.

Wow, crazy comeback by Carolina!

Really nice to see Fedorov get the game winner for Washington, who will now face Pittsburgh in the second round. Should be an awesome series.

Woohoo! The teams I was pulling for have all generally made it (except for the Habs and Philly, and I would have liked it if Columbus and St. Louis both won a few games). Go Anaheim, Chicago, Detroit, Carolina, Vancouver and Washington! Detroit has always been my second favourite, so I'm rooting for them; still, I really hope Washington and Vancouver (as the only remaining Canadian team) go far. But really, I'm happy with all six of those teams winning- and while I may not like the Pens or the Bruins, at least they're entertaining to watch. Sucks that I won't be around to watch the rest of the playoffs, because there's going to be some good stuff this year.

Where you going?

Day 14. Two game sevens, both were quite entertaining. Especially the 2 goals in less than a minute by the Canes. Marty sure looked some upset, but hey Eric Staal can't get those type of chances. Also the Caps scored with very little time left in the 3rd, Varlamov played quite well again and Ovechkin is starting to get it going.

Scores:

East:
Washington Capitals 2 - New York Rangers 1
Capitals win series 4-3

Carolina Hurricanes 4 - New Jersey Devils 3
Hurricanes win series 4-3

West:
NO GAMES

IIHF:
Canada 7 - Slovakia 3
:dio:

Round 2 Match-ups:

East:
Boston Bruins vs. Carolina Hurricanes
Bruins swept season series 4-0

Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
Capitals won season series 3-0-1

West:
Detroit Red Wings vs. Anaheim Ducks
Red Wings won season series 3-0-1

Vancouver Canucks vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Season series tied 2-2

Round 2 begins on Thursday.

Carolina game was awesome! the Devil's defense was doing so well until that one blast of Carolina offense where the puck would not leave the zone. also the Rangers game wasn't the slaughter i expected; first Washington goal was hella lucky.

Ducks, Canucks, Boston and Capitals are my picks for next round. i was 5/8 in first round predictions

Round 2 predicitons:

Boston - Carolina

Boston swept Carolina this season, however, shortly after that last horrific 5-1 loss the Canes really picked their play up. This will be a tough one though, but I hope we can come up with a win or two. It will be too optimistic to predict a Canes win here, but they are solid underdogs. Bruins in five/six.

Pittsburgh - Washington

Washington seems to ahve solved the goaltending-issue with Varmalov coming in to replace Theodore in goal for the Caps. This will be one hell of an offensive series with Ovechikin, Semin, Crosby and Malkin among others to colour this. I do think Pitts have the edge though, as they are more consistent and played really really good against Philadelphia. Pens in six.

Detroit - Anaheim

Both teams have been excellent in their first series, and Anaheim might as well pose a threat against the red wings just like they did against the Sharks. However, Detroit has got the experience, the skill and not the least, the powerplay to drag this home. I'm guessing this will be a blazing series. Detroit in seven.

Vancouver - Chicago

The Canucks were excellent against the Blues, and swept the aside pretty easily. Chicago figured out Iginla and Jokinen and was able to move past Calgary. However, the way Vancouver has played and especially Luongo I'll put my bet on the Canucks. Vancouver in six.

It wasn't hard to figure out Iginla and Jokinen, they didn't do anything. The Flames will probably use the injury excuse though.

True, especially Jokinen, unless you consider looking like a puzzled alien doing something. Iginla had one good game, and the rest of the time he was talking shit and trying to start fights in the hopes of firing up his team. I'm glad no one took the bait.

I HATE THIS THREAD
I always think someone's written something I'd actually care about reading when I see Helheim lighting up. Bastards.

I missed the third period of the game tonight, which seems like it as the most eventful one. Disappointment.

Indeed it was.

Day 16. The 3rd period was pretty intense, where the Hawks showed that they in fact can hang with the Nucks and that Luongo is not a brick wall. The Sedins looked good tonight and Kesler scored his first ever NHL Playoff goal. Kane had 2 goals on the night and Rypien got smoked. The NHL may be looking into the hit.

Scores:

East:
NO GAMES

West:
Vancouver Canucks 5 - Chicago Blackhawks 3
Canucks lead series 1-0

IIHF:
Canada 5 - Czech Republic 1 (Jaromir Who?)
:dio:

All the Ducks vs Wings games here are on TSN2. I don't have TSN2. I are mad.

They should. It was in the same league as the Brashear hit imo.
