My fav Martin's album. It's dark, heavy and very very powerful.

Another of my personal favs. A 100/100 for me. Absolutely love this album. The opening instrumental is chilling.

Music is pretty good, but I can't stand Martins voice. He ruins it for me.

I have a similar problem with Ozzy. I wouldn't go so far to say I can't stand his voice. I like some of the stuff from that era. Agreed he is the voice of Sabbath, but Sabbath with Dio and Martin always appealed more to me. Not just you, but a lot of people don't like Martin's vocals, but he's one of my favs.

Best Sabbath album... they never matched the atmosphere created here, not before nor after. Tony "the cat" martin rules here. He was accused of being a "studio" vocalist never matching his performances in a live setting, but that's no reason to ignore his superb singing on this album, the one before and the one after. On Cross Purposes he sounds indeed tired and doesn't reach the range he displayed here, but that was like 5 years later and we all know what 5 years can do to a vocalist (see Bruce Dickinson, James LaBrie...). Anyways this album is on par with the best of Dio and Ozzy so it deserves a higher score 95/100 from me

A fantastic display by Martin. Iommi brings out some of his most classic riffs. I know this is not Into The Void guys but some great riffs abound. I love the Martin records.( I mean I Witness has the best bass line Geezer ever recorded on Cross Purposes. )
Listen to the subtle variations on the title track intro riff by Iommi. He brings to life another cliche that just transcends...
Martin does brilliantly on this album, When Death Calls, anyone, is the equal of Dio.

a very good album,imo; 85/100.

When Death Calls(love the Brian May guitar solo with its Queenish harmonies on that one, followed by that headbanguable as hell guitar riff),the title track and Nightwing are outstanding tracks.

"Nightwing flieeeeeessss again!

Its a little hit and miss I think. There's 4 or so killer tracks and then some filler. That makes it a really 'good' album. But not a 'great' one.

I've only heard the title track and it kicks ass! Need to hear the rest.

Some great tracks, but also a couple that drag a bit. Tyr's better IMO
