I have no idea what that means, but Mrs Berlesconi is hot and Silvio's crazy.

Apparently, I share a birthday with Devin Townsend, James LaBrie, Bill Ward, and Michael Palin. And that day's today. I'm probably gonna go out and have some Korean food with the family and eat some cake 'n shit.

Happy Birthday.
Korean food... when I was working for a concrete contractor (laying walkways, patios, and whatnot) myself and the two other dudes that were to do the job for this Korean family were riding in the back of the boss's pickup truck, pleasantly baked and enjoying the crisp Santa Cruz spring morning air (the job was in Watsonville) when inevitably the discussion turned to "how those fuckers eat dogs, man"... well, I had heard that before, of course, but didn't really believe it, but this one dude kept insisting it was true.
He finally said, "look, man, I'll show you when we get there. I've done some work on their property before, and I've dug up madibles, little leg bones and the whole shit. "

So, anyway, we get there, start digging and fuckin A, we start uncovering little dog sized bones; this was very interesting, but even more interesting was the fact that they seemed to be running a small kennel around the other side of the yard. Only thing was, out of the six or so of the, what the hell are they, little doggie cages, only half of them had occupants. My uncannily sharp powers of observation vaguely noted that there weren't any little pooches running around, and strange suppositions began whispering down my sun and weed baked brain...
Well, at this point, the guy that had been out there before pulled us a side, and saying, "dig it, check out their refrigerator" led us through the sliding glass window, into the kitchen and lo and behold... in the freezer were stacks of what appeared to be meat wrapped in that old fashioned white butcher paper... maybe it was beef, but who knows.
Of course, I am not saying that all Koreans eat dog, but I thought I'd share that little tale with you as a birthday present. Bon apetit!

His wife's divorcing him because he's become something of a pedophile, and he's using t.v-esque blonde furniture girls as political gimmicks for his political campaigning.

Thanks, man. I know the "dogmeat" reputation that Asian cuisine has, but I've never tried Korean food before, and I like Japanese food well enough, so I wanna give it a shot.

Thanks, yo. And I actually wouldn't mind trying dog if I had the chance. I mean, sure, I love dogs as much as the next guy, but it's meat. I remember there was a Hindi exchange student from India in one of my classes, and she didn't know how people could eat cows, because she said they were kind, gentle, and loving. It's a totally cultural thing.

dunno, certain animals i just can't imagine eating, like dogs and horses. at least to me dogs are a step above chickens and the like.
as for cows, well they're also sacred in the hindu religion, they're a 'maternal' animal and all. but i also agree on the cultural thing - i was raised hindu and even though i'm an atheist now i very very rarely eat beef.

I wouldn't mind trying horse either.

I think I would have more trouble with "gross" animals or animal parts like grubs or testicles or something. Even then, though, given the right circumstances, I might try them. I figure that people have been eating them for so long, it wouldn't kill me to try.

There are some animals I could never eat. Dog being one of them. I also wont eat veal, even though it tastes so damn good.

I'll eat anything. I don't have any Disney-esque illusions about animals being our brothers, able to communicate, or love; we didn't claw our way to the top of the food chain to shy away from the concept of "cuddly". It's incoherent with the rest of the carnivorous philosophy. If you won't eat one kind of animal, you might as well not eat any. There's really no difference.

That's nonsense. Some forms of meat are far crueller than others, and there's nothing philosophically incoherent (or whatever you want to call it) about drawing a line somewhere.

Crueller how? Just because in western culture dogs are considered pets rather than food doesn't make them any less animal.

Goose-livers vs free-range chickens, for example. Rio's totally correct.

How is that different?

I'm not counterarguing, I want to know.

They do horrific things to geese to get their livers like that..

http://www.all-creatures.org/articles/f ... awake.html (mental site, but the first that I could find)

You honestly think that eating an animal means that we can treat it like we want?

Why don't cannibals eat clowns?

Because they taste funny.

I mean your general notion that it's worthless distinguishing between different types of animal cruelty is nonsense. I don't know anything about Korean food so wouldn't want to compare them and the West.

Although, provided these Korean food-dogs aren't jammed by their hundreds of thousands into tiny cages in which they can't stand, and end up with with many broken bones because it is so cramped, then they are probably a kinder form of meat than our chickens are.
