the band's true and unique masterpiece... it's worth at least a 95 or even a 100.. btw it's been quite some time since I've listened to it...

Truly their finest moment. Dead Skin Mask still gives me the creeps everytime I listen to it. Diverse, heavy and brilliant. A true vision of what death metal without the growls should be. The combination of King and Hanneman is superb. Sure Reign In Blood has its legendary status as does the often overlooked South Of Heaven.
This is the real deal. Their last truly great album.
Lombardo is also brilliant. And that absolutely unique guitar sound that is bordering on being some form of possessed entity that transcends any form of replication outside of Slayer.
I mean, many have tried but to this date none have succeeded.
A classic.

This albums takes "Reign In Blood" and "South of Heaven" elements to make it one of Slayer's best! It was a swansong of sorts because it was also the last album to have Dave Lombardo. This should be a classic! 8)

Well, I've never really seen the difference between a classic & a 90-100 archive review.

But how South of Heaven doesn't have a review (classic or high rated archive) here is beyond me

You have to consider how long ago it was reviewed. Back in 2004, classics and archives weren't nearly as defined as they are now. I'm sure there are plenty of albums reviewed then that would be classics if they were uploaded today, just as there are plenty of reviews from that long ago in the classics section that are actually archives.

Some Axxis, for example. (Voodoo vibes is a classic with a 25/100 score  )

war ensemble is one of the best American thrash songs regardless of who the band is. Dead skin mask has one of the most haunting riffs I've ever heard though.
Great album

a very good album but not their best, imo. anyway, my favorite of theirs has to be Show no Mercy; and after that one, a tie between the Haunting the Chapel EP/South of Heaven/Hell awaits.

and nowadays, this band has turned into pure crap, imo.
