After a stint of playing Goldeneye for 64. har har!
Also playing earth bound! adorable little game.

I tried TWEWY, but it didn't really appeal to me at all. I heard that it gets better after the end of the first week, so I might try to play it again at some point.

Earthbound is awesome, though. Totally awesome.
Yeah, i'm not sure how I feel about the battle system so far, I don't think i'm very good with the dual screen fighting just yet.

There is quite a learning curve to it, but once you really get the hang of it, you'll be keeping the light puck going nonstop from the beginning of the battle. That's when you really dominate. I'm just into the second week now.

I'm going to finish Metal Gear Solid 2 today and then start playing the original Splinter Cell. (Note: Spoiler coming up) I loved MGS2 until after Emma's death and Otacon's mourning. Then the story gets really ridiculous with the whole "Virtual Reality Revelation," and the Colonel turning out to be a nihilistic drone. What's especially amazing is that, unlike many people, I didn't really mind Raiden (though Rose, cute as she was for a video game girl , got annoying after a while with her long, whiny codec rants). Snake is certainly a much better character, but I thought Raiden's vulnerability added to the game's dramatic flair. Although now, after witnessing that whole virtual reality crap, I'm having a hard time taking even that seriously.

Fission Mailed!

I dunno. I just found it to be far-fetched. And a little freaky, particularly when you fight Metal Gear Rays (during which Otacon seems to be the only sane member of the entire pack).

Nonetheless, MGS2 is an excellent game. And I am admittedly sorry to be finished with it now (the ending, btw, was okay although it did leave some unanswered questions - may be that was deliberate?). I'm trying to decide now: Should I buy Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes (a remake of MGS1, which I've already beaten) or skip it and go with MGS3: Snake Eater instead?

MGS3, gameplay wise, is a step up from 2 although the story feels a bit straightforward (though I haven't played number 4 yet and so I feel this one probably provides a lot of background info).

And MGS2's freakiness was awesome! Especially if you had no idea that the game goes completely haywire towards the end. I thought my game was posessed or something.

Not played Twin Snakes, but it's MGS 1 with MGS 2 controls! What's not to love?

MGS1 had similar "fourth wall" tricks. Such as that fight with, I believe, Psycho Mantis. Where the screen would sporadically turn black and "Hideo" would appear on the top right. Making you think there was something wrong with your television set or PSX/PS2 system. Without giving any examples, does MGS3 also have these "fourth wall" jokes sporadically thrown in?

Played Prototype for 2 hours last night. It is much better than the 7.5 IGN gave it. It is a straight forward game, but it is damn fun. And those hunters are hard as fuck to fight.

I cant remember any but the codec talks are sometimes hillarious and the game does have a lot of jokes.

Anyway i think you should go with MGS3, twin snakes is basically the same game you played on PSx but with better graphics, Snake eater on the other hand highly improves over the gameplay of 2 and storywise is very interesting too.

Yeah, people over re-act when a game doesn't get a 9.whatever out of 10. 7.5 is still a good game. IMO though it's probably an 8/10.

So I finally managed to get Assassin's Creed to run, and I'm not too impressed. Is it just me or is there very little depth to the swordfights?

Hold a button to block, press another to attack? It's not exactly complex, but anything too much harder would have made it too difficult for people, I assume. Can make it a bit repetitive... I tend to just run away, more fun.

I hope this isn't too much of a spoiler, but you can kill one of the bosses by setting your PS2 clock a week forward.

I personally think the third game is the best. It's so unlike anything I've ever played and so different from the other games. It's dramatic and cinematic in every way possible. It really feels like you're a part of a film, but not like in MGS4 where there are half hour-long cutscenes.

The music is also the best in the series, which makes the game so much better.

I'm glad the average cutscene length in MGS3 is shorter than that of MGS2. Some of MGS2's (particularly towards the end) were just too long and drawn out IMO.

Anyway, I rented MGS3 from Gamefly, and it should be arriving in the mail shortly. When I play it, I will post my thoughts here.

I tried it and finished it with the easiest ending, I didn't feel it lived up to the hype.
