Seriously though, generalizing like that saying that most acoustic stuff is boring is just stupid. Check out some Damien Rice, Ani DiFranco, etc. Great stuff. DiFranco can also get really pissed off sometimes.

People usually sound pretty bored when they pick up an acoustic guitar.

It's fun to play though.

I'd like to take this opportunity to name-drop Comus in regards to acoustic music not necessarily being boring.

^^ Awesome suggestion.

There's a lot of acoustic music out there, so dismissing it like that is not the way to go. If you have some patience you can discover some great music. ( I am saying this because i used to react like Az)

Try out
Nick Drake, Neil Young, Tim Buckley and Tom Waits
The guys i have been listening to the most the last few months.

This is the opposite of boring.

admittedly i exaggerated, but so much of the acoustic stuff i hear is just so goddamn boring it's ridiculous. jack johnson, for example, he fucking sucks. such boring, lifeless music.

obviously there are acoustic songs i like, but that's about it. some of you may know about my biggest problem with music - if it's not fast-paced i probably won't like it.

btw, i love this song:
Jorge Ben & Gilberto Gil - Taj Mahal
"it was the most beautiful love story i ever heard..."

My bold. That's your problem, going to the mainstream pop acoustic acts isn't going to work. :D

Hey, the bar wants 3 hours of musical entertainment. And those songs are all great. You're just ignorant.

I have a question for the horror fans around these parts, and I'm not sure where to put this, but I didn't feel like making a new thread, so here it goes:

Do you know of any slasher movies with no score/extra-diegetic sound? Jump scares are prevalent in a lot of horror movies, but seem to be exploited by slasher movies in particular. I was trying to put myself in one of these situations the other day and I thought of how different it would seem with no score to build tension or loud noises to shock. Granted, jump-scares can also be created by such things as a cat jumping out of a locker or whatever. Anyway, I thought that it would be interesting to watch a slasher movie with no score or extra-diegetic sound to see how it played out, but I could not think of any off the top of my head. Any suggestions?

Also, I already did a (pretty half-assed) Google search, so I would prefer it if nobody simply links me to it.

I'm sure there are a few, but they'd have to occur to me spontaneously.

Off the top of my head, I'd say The Last Horror Movie, or the film that inspired it, Man Bites Dog (although the latter isn't a slasher, really).

A film like Haute Tension/Switchblade Romance doesn't rely on jump scares, really. But I can't remember whther it has an important extra-diagetic soundtrack.

Is it just me or is Thorn a really underrated Blind Guardian song?

Today I learned that if you sit in front of the tv all day eating Fruit Loops out of the box, your arse will explode in thick, green-coloured bumwater later in the night.

Just bought myself a new guitar. Ovation semi-acoustic collector's edition from 1988. Apparently the original price was something like 2000 francs, bought it second hand for 800. Awesome.
