That's probably the whole idea. Limited save systems add replay value, particularly to short games.

Meh, I feel less likely to replay a game with limited saves. I generally feel something like "Finally, I finished it despite limited saves. Not eliminating that hard work!" There's less freedom with limited saves, I'm less inclined to touch it again once I beat it.

I feel the opposite way. I think more games should have save systems that force you to think before you make decisions. I'm mostly talking about games like Baldur's Gate where you sometimes get to make decisions that have different outcomes and impact on your character or the story.

Also, in the Metroid games the limited saving adds an element of fear and survival. Which partly is what makes the Metroid games fucking awesome.

Yeah. Quicksaving and -loading leads to too much trial-and-error problem solving. With modification it's a good system, though. Being allowed a limited number of (quick)saves per minute or something might be an idea.

CoD2 was great in that respect. Finely-tuned autosave systems are much better than F5-ing before each corner. I tend to forget to quicksave, so it all balances out for me - it does make games more exciting, but I have also said bad words when I've had to repeat a section. Autosaves ftw, here. Limited saves are annoying because they force you - if you want to restrict yourself to three saves a level, gofrit!

It's in my next Amazon order, fear not. Need to find some more obscure films to stick on first...

Cool. I'm going to Metalcamp plus a tour of Croatia, but by the middle of July I'll be back. We can hook up for some multiplayer then.

Man, it's such a huge step up from CoD2 it's not funny anymore. Best tactical shooter ever... until Modern Warfare 2 comes out in November.

I have a quick question about The Twilight Princess (I'm hoping I'll be able to start playing it sometime this summer): One of my favorite things to do in the GameCube/N64 Zeldas is to look for and jump into those hidden holes scattered throughout the lands, which would typically hold some cool secrets and challenges (not to mention some of the weirdest background music ever in a video game). Does The Twilight Princess also have those?
