The 2009 NHL Entry Draft is now just under 19 hours away. John Tavares for the longest time was considered to be the #1 pick, but his average play to finish the season and his below average playoffs have many people wondering. A lot of people are saying the Islanders may be taking Matt Duchene instead of Tavares. Victor Hedman is pretty much set in stone to go 2nd overall to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Whoever is left would be just fine for the Colarado Avalanche, who pick 3rd overall.
There are a lot of trade rumors out there...
Jay Bouwmeester's rights to Philly or Vancouver.
Vinny Lecalvier to Montreal.
Dany Heatley to LA, Rangers, or Boston.
Ryan Clowe to Toronto.
Montreal has supposedly turned down offers for the rights of d-man Mike Komisarek. Also, the Habs are rumored to be interested in acquiring the rights of both Daniel and Henrik Sedin.
Mats Sundin said he would be interested in returning to Vancouver.
Roberto Luongo rumored to be ready to sign a contract extension with the Canucks.
The Toronto Maple Leafs (

) have received an offer for d-man Tomas Kaberle. Not a whole lot is known, either than the Leafs are seriously considering it. The Leafs have also had 3 other teams inquire about Kaberle. Atlanta being one of the possible teams.
Brian Burke said he will NOT trade 19 year old d-man Luke Schenn. His quote as to why: "We’re not moving Luke. We worked hard to get him last summer and I think he may be the captain of our team in a couple of years.”
Veteran forward Sergei Fedorov leaves the NHL. Signed with a team in the KHL today, deal is for 2 years. He played for 13 seasons in the NHL scoring just under 500 goals and just under 2000 points. He has won 3 stanley cups, Hart, Selke, and Lester B. Pearsone trophies. Future Hockey Hall of Famer for sure.
