Anyone played Prototype? It looks quite like Infamous, but since the latter isn't available for PC...

Actually it looks like Spider-Man: Web Of Shadows. Not a fan of this type of gameplay.

I just finished Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway and it's a great squad based tactical shooter like the Rainbow Six series but in a WWII setting. Another great game from Gearbox. Waiting for Borderlands now.

my cousin's PS2 died today. is it just me or do these consoles have very shitty quality, both the original and smaller versions? almost all the people i know with a PS2 are on the second machine because their first broke down at some point. this is fucking ridiculous, my gamecube and n64 are still going strong and i bet my left nut that if i dust off the SNES it'll work as well.

Funny, mine never broke and I never had problems with it and I bought it in 2002.

I don't doubt that there's some planned obsolescence going on here in terms of the hardware life but it's probably negligible.

So, the Conduit is pretty awesome. Obviously peeps with the higher powered consoles already have their own version of this (say, Resistance for PS3 and Halo for X Box) but the Wii definitely needed a game like this. The single player is fun, blending the run, stop and shoot formula with some good exploration and hidden secrets and fantastic and very customizable controls. But the online multiplayer is really what it's about- no lag, very easy to use (unfortunately, to friend someone, you do need their friend code... grr), a ranking system, and just some damned fun levels and weapons. All together, a much better online experience than Medal of Honour Heroes 2, another great Wii FPS, since the levels in that game were all to huge for anything less than a 24 player game and rewarded sniping too much for people who don't have 24 hours a day to spend videogaming.

So, Conduit= +++. If you only have a Wii and like FPSes, get it. If you have other systems, still really like FPSes with Wii controls, and have some cash to throw around, hey, pick up a copy too.

I'm going to rent it. I joined a site that I pay $20 a month and I can rent unlimited games from. The Conduit is on my list, I will let you know when I get it.

Dawn of War 2. Different from the first but still really fun. Ground Control 2 is still the king of tactical strategy games though.

Plants Vs Zombies. Popcap games are charming and fun as always.

Prototype on the PC. The animations are really jirky and the character feels totally weightless and turns around in a split millisecond. It does not feel right. Plus the design is bland and I'm sure I'll grow tired of it soon

WoW. Yes, still hanging in there. Two bosses remain in Ulduar on 10 man raids. Feels like there isn't much to do in the game these days. Mostly just log in to raid a few hours some evenings. Next patch will bring some new content too keep me hooked though

Mine still works and I got it at launch.

I got mine for Christmas back in 2002, and it still works perfectly. Although I've heard many of the launch-day machines were notorious for having mechanical problems.

Anyway, I gave up on RE: Code Veronica, because I just couldn't stand its heavy emphasis on trial-and-error. There's nothing worse than running through a game for three hours, but then having to start it over from scratch because you missed an important item that would otherwise render further progress impossible. I'm now, instead, going to start playing Gears Of War tonight.

I'm also still playing The Wind Waker. That's a surprisingly long game (surprising, since I've heard it was one of the shorter Zelda games), but may be that's just because I'm trying to find all the secrets and treasures.

Am I doing something fundamentally wrong in GoW? I'm used to run-and-gun games, or lean-out-from-around-corners-and-shoot-them-in-the-head games, and neither approach seems to get me very far, neither does waiting until the other chappies reload and then blasting away. This X-box mentality, I tell you.

Gears of War? Its all about firing from cover. Try to pick your spots when you peek out, and don't stay out of cover too long. The grenades come in really handy as well.

Hm, thought so. Seems quite repetitive in terms of gameplay, though, and the grenade system's horrible.

GoW kind of sucks for the PC IMO. It's one of those games that should just stay for the console. A shame though since the engine is amazing. (Unreal 3 engine, no shit it's good.)

You can tell it's a quick console port. I hate all that PRESS START TO GO bullshit, and the PRESS X BUTTON NOW. Lazy old Microsoft.
