The battery still works?! The battery in my Gold cartridge died a long time ago, so it won't save anymore. I have to play it on an emulator now.

I totally screwed up in The Wind Waker. I missed a ton of items that I may never be able to get again, I'd probably need to spend five hours at once just scrounging through the different islands looking for treasure, etc.

So I deleted my save, bought a strategy guide on Amazon.com, and will try to play through the whole game (start to finish) with it. I usually hate using strategy guides, but I think if I really want to finish this game during the summer (or even the early Fall), it's necessary to have one.

I don't see why you'd delete your game though. Now it'll just take more time to find those items, and playing Zelda with a strategy guide=boo. Anyway, out of all Zelda games, The Wind Waker is the most tedious for finding all the heart pieces/bottles/all that, because finding treasure charts is pretty much the least fun thing ever after three times, so I wouldn't worry too much about it

That's my problem with The Wind Waker: It's too "collect-a-thonish." That's why I'm using a strategy guide (which I've never done for a Zelda game before, save for occasionally looking up some hints/tips online when I was stuck or felt I was missing something). Hopefully, Twilight Princess won't be as annoying in this respect.

For example, I don't have enough Knight's Crests for the Hurricane Spin (I skipped most of those "item balls" when fighting in Hyrule Castle) and basically have no way of ever getting any again until Ganon's castle. And, supposedly, I need the Hurricane Spin for a lot of the later bosses.

I completely agree with the collect-a-thonish" comment, but I do have a hint for your replay through: If you use the grappling hook on enemies, you can get one of the collection items (ie, regular goblins have those butterflies and the heavily armoured folks [Darknuts?] that you fight in Hyrule Castle have Knight's Crests. It makes collecting those types of things a hell of a lot easier.

And nah, you don't need the Hurricane Spin for later bosses, but it sure is a hell of a fun move.

On the topic of Zelda, I know these videos have become an old joke in the internet community, but they're still hilarious (hence my new avatar):

It's a battery that keeps the clock running 24/7 in the game cartridge In a lot of the old G/S cartridges, there has been an issue of the battery that keeps that clock going running out. When that happens, the game can't keep its own time when it's not on, so save files are pretty much null and void.

Theme Hospital. Classic.

Was finding it terribly easy, until I got to about level 4 and everybody in my hospital started vomiting uncontrollably and even an army of handymen couldn't sweep it up. The entire floor was covered in sick.

SLightly peeved that there's no "restart level" function and I have to go back to the beginning.

This game is hard as FUCK. I played the first campaign on normal and failed like 8 times. I eventually gave up and switched to easy. I still got fucked by the CPU.

Downloaded a bunch of classic games from the early 90s. Duke Nukem, Doom, Jurassic Park, etc. Fun, but quickly boring.

Made it through a whole game of Civ 3 yesterday. Came in second, didn't do such a great job. Will try again today.

Brilliant game! Bullfrog was the shit back in the days.

The only Bullfrog games I've played are Theme Park and Magic Carpet. Theme Park was a cool game (at the time), but Magic Carpet I didn't really care as much for. Although it's possible that, if I played it again right now, I'd have a different opinion of it. I know it was one of the best looking games on the market when it came out (and also one of the first to use rendered polygons).

Question: Will the Windows version of Mechwarrior 2 work on a Windows XP machine with an NVIDIA Quadro video card?

Oh you missed out on some great games, especially Dungeon Keeper.

The first googling I did came up with a forum thread that seems to have solutions to getting Mechwarrior 2 to work on XP.

Very cool game.

The Dungeon Keeper games are the best thing Bullfrog ever made, followed by Populous 3.

I played Theme Hospital way back when it came out and I remember quitting after a while because it got so fucking hard. I have the same problem with games like Sim City. It starts out good, but I run out of money and never seem to get any income.

I yearn to play Dungeon Keeper again, but I don't know how to get a vista-compatible version.

Theme Hospital keeps buggering up, as well, which is a shame. But I was getting very fed up with patients constantly vomiting.

Im guessing as long as Dungeon Keeper works in XP it will work in Vista as well. Perhaps in compability-mode. Although speaking of backwards compability, Windows is still the same today as it was when Windows 95 came out. They just keep piling on shit and expect it to work :lame:

Playing Trivial Pursuit and Touch4 on iPhone. Good stuff, and works wireless with other iPhones or iPod touchezez.

Thanks for the info. Although what bugs me is that I'd have to play the DOS version of Mechwarrior II. Which means I wouldn't get any of those extras like 3D acceleration.

May be the game will eventually be released on Steam or XBLA. At which I would definitely pick it up.

Red Faction: Guerilla is fucking awesome!! I've hardly played any of the missions since I've been having so much fun just going around destroying EVERYTHING. Why are more people not playing this game? I'm looking at you Walnut.

Is Red Faction the 'everything is destroyable!!11' series? Played the first, of course, only certain things are blow-uppable. This any better?
