To say this has been done before but better I disagree. Name another power band that combines 80's power, speed, and thrash into their riffs and are as consistently heavy, aggressive, and full of head banging goodness as Sacred Steel are? The music has a decent amount of variety. They use the fast double bass heavy tracks a little too much but they do mid-paced songs well, too.
Well, I can name another band right here in this week's reviews: Steel Attack. These guys have come a long way since their happy power metal days of the first 2 albums. They do a great job combining raw power, thrashy riffs, and aggressiveness. Furthermore, they have a competent vocalist. Ronny Hemlin adds his own deathy growls, but they are not random; instead they are strategically and logically placed such that the more agressive tunes on the disc are given an even harder edge. You'll also hear some slower, almost doomy section where Hemlin sounds like Dio's twin brother. Give me some time, and I'm sure I can come up with several other bands in response to your question.
Steel Attack is obsolete to me. The music is decent to good, but nothing that hasn't been done before, or been done better with a quality vocalist. With the shitty vocals, I find no use for this. However, to each their own. I'm glad that somebody likes these guys
