Gimme a break, I don't know shit about hockey.

Season starts tomorrow! And there's no better way to begin an NHL season than with a game against Toronto.

I'll be there! Leafs jersey, Leafs cape, and lots of beer. I think I may get a hot dog at Burkies Dog House to.

oh and I am definitely going to the game where they honour Sundin. Sure he never got us a cup and the way he left us still leaves a bitter taste in many Leafs fans mouths, but he must of done something right to be the all time Leafs goals and points leader.

Sad to see my favorite player retire on such a whimper of a season and on a bit of a sour note with Toronto. Hopefully he will be remembered for his consistency, character and clutch ability instead of recent unfortunate events. He always answered the call for the Swedish national team, he's an icon and hero here in Sweden. I'm gonna miss watching him put the puck on his backhand and roof it on breakaways and penalty shots.



No time to mourn though, hockey season is upon us !!!

Sundin, for me, is up there with Doug Gilmour and Wendel Clark as my favourite hockey players of all time. I can't stand the so called Leafs fans who say he is no good and is a bum. He leads the teams in goals and points, he lead this team to 2 conference finals pretty much on his own. The best players he had to play with were an over the hill Alex Mogilny and Gary Roberts. It's stupid to sit here and think what we could of got for him in a trade, but it does bring back some awesome memories some of the clutch goals he scored for us over the years. All over the sports channels here they are playing the top 10 Sundin moments, I get chills watching some of these. I only hope our new young swede, Viktor Stalberg, can be half of the player Sundin was.

Anyhoo, Leafs vs. Habs in 3 hours. AS I said, I will be there for this monumentus occasion.

Can't believe the Leafs lost that one. They looked great but Montreal really capitalized on their chances.

Correction: There's no better way to begin an NHL season than winning against Toronto! Go Habs go!

In all honesty though, the Leafs did outplay the Habs.
So, the positives from tonight's game: Carey Price, who was the main reason we won and played excellently; our fourth line, which really rose to the occasion, particularly Metropolit and O'Byrne (whom I normally really dislike); and, towards the end of the game, when all three were finally paired together- the Cammeleri, Gomez, Gionta line. Goddamn did they look good. Goddamn were they fast. Goddamn did they have some good opportunities.

Let's hope we can get some more chemistry like that going, because there was seriously no offensive drive from any of the lines except the fourth for most of the game. Hopefully this lack of chemistry was a result of the huge changes and the players will soon get used to each other, because we can't afford to be outshot 2-1 most nights. But, hey, we won. Go Habs go!

And damn, for a hockey city, the Air Canada Center seemed to have a lot of empty seats. I realize that most of those empty seats were season ticket holders, but seriously- opening night, guys? When I went to a pre-season Habs game last week, the whole arena was completely packed, and the fans seemed more wild than they were in Toronto tonight.

And finally, I find it really hilarious that Komi even gets booed by Montreal fans when he plays in Toronto. I've never been one to boo players (okay, maybe Brisebois once or twice), and I like the guy, but if Komi gets booed whenever he plays in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa, it'll be really funny.

Oh man, I don't like that I missed that game, but I'm sick and went to bed early. Couldn't get anymore sleep now so I'm watching the Sharks-game. Seems like Colorado have solved their goaltending problem , Anderson has been insane.

The referees were awful in the Toronto VS Montreal Game.
Komisarek was giving all those cheap shots on every oppertunity he got and that cross check behind Gionta's head was dirty as hell.

Then someone would lightly hook someone for 2 secs and be penalised for that...geez. If you're going to penalise stuff like that you might want to take your whistle out for cross checks behind heads and referee the game a little more evenly.

Anyhow, not a great game by montreal even though they managed to get the win. The positive side is I don't think they can do worse..hopefully

Toronto's top line (Blake-Stajan-Stalberg) played pretty well, Schenn and Beauchemin didn't look great defensively but they probably just need to get adjusted to each other. Toskala made some great saves but I think he could have had that second one.

Oh, and apparently Markov is out 2-3 months. Ouch for Habs fans.

Edit: Now I just read on TSN that it's 3-4 months!

That Markov thing was weird since it didn't seem like much happened to him.

@ Brahm: blame the empty seats to all the suits who are there entertaining clients. That's the worst thing about Toronto, is all the none-hockey fans there trying to sell shit and entertain people, it is disgusting.

As for the game, well it sucks that they lost. But man oh man, it was awesome to be there. The atmosphere was insane. Arguments in the stands with Habs fans, beer, Burkies Dog House!, it was all awesome. Toskala played pretty good even though his save % says differently. Price was very good, but a lot of the Leafs shots were right on the logo on his chest. It was painful to watch, all they had to do was put somebody in front of the net and fire the puck low and hard and clean up the rebounds. But no, just keep firing at the giant toilet seat on the jersey that seems to work. Komisarek was playing fine until the final 5 minutes when he took that stupid penalty. You Habs fans say he was dirty and getting away with shit, well so was Lapierre. Komi was just fighting back. Schenn and Beauchemin were pretty bad for most of the night, but they will find their game.

Sucks for the Habs that Markov is out, but for me I couldn't be happier. By far one of the best plays on the team gone in game 1 for 3 to 4 months. Ouch.

all in all, a fun night and we got a point. I hope Cammi doesn't pick us apart all season, but I will admit he did look good last night.

Sounds like a blast. Fuck, I got to visit North America and catch a couple of games sometime. It was near impossible to get tickets to the game here in Sweden.

Oh, no doubt. There was one high sticking that Komisarek wasn't called on that I thought was pretty bad, but otherwise he wasn't playing particularly dirty. Just stupid- two of the goals were scored while he was in the penalty box. And it's weird, because Komi will take stupid penalty minutes and always has, but usually not this many.

He was just trying a little too hard being the home opener against the much hated rivals. And those much hated rivals happen to be the team that drafted him. I know he is not the smartest player ever, but I am not expecting this from him every game. Maybe every game against the Habs, but not the other 76 games.

Seriously you haven't seen the same game I saw...
Cross check behind Gionta's head and and cross check to paciorety's legs for now frickin reason. Oh he was swinging that lumber and could of easily had 2-3 more penalties. He hit gomez in the face twice with his stick and it took that second time before anything was actually called.

He was playing with a little more jump in his step because of who he was playing. But he wasn't any dirtier than Lapierre.

Theo Fleury was diddled by his hockey coach when he was a kid.

He tells all in his new book. His alcoholo abuse, drug abuse, violent nature, hanging out with homeless people and trannsexuals. The guy was crazy. Too bad he couldn't make it back into the NHL this year. Would of made an interesting season even moreso.
