Reign in Blood = overrated, one of the most overrated albums of the thrash heyday. With Master of Puppets of course.

IMO

Once again, agreed.

I'm going to say with a straight face that I think pre-Chaos AD Sepultura is overrated. Granted, Arise and Beneath The Remains are good albums. But they're also quite repetitive and vague IMO. I can't listen to either album without eventually feeling like the songs blend into one another, at which they become almost indistinguishable (barring some unique intros for songs like Beneath The Remains and Altered State).

I'm not trying to be a dick, so, don't take this the wrong way, but practically everything you post about metal leads me to believe that you are what they call a "casual listener" in regards to metal.
Do you ever seek anything ouitside the most standard fare, or is it just that you are quite content with sticking to the more widely known bands / albums?
Because there is a lot of quite good stuff out there, just waiting to explored.

Not trying to roast you, or anything, just wondering.

And "quite repetitive and vague"?
WTF? both albums boast a very wide variation of riffs and odd little twists, more than any of the ones you mentioned... in fact repetitive and vague are perfect descriptions for MoP and RIB.
I't bizarre how to people can listen to the same thing and arrive at diametrically opposite analyses.

At the moment, yes, I'm a pretty casual listener. Mostly because I haven't really had the time to get much more caught up in the scene. I have my favorite bands that I keep up with. But I don't actively go to concerts or anything like that, and I usually only buy about one album (metal or not) per month.

If there are bands you think I'd probably like, you're welcome to PM me about it.

Nah, it's cool. Like I said, not trying to grind on you or anything, I was just trying get some perspective on your opinions.
Hey, there's something for everyone in this world.
As for bands I'd think you'd like, that would be tough, because our tastes seem fairly incompatible.

Perhaps if you gave me some guidelines to go b?

for good measure.
All of these facts just go to show how Sepultura isn't that great of a band. They may not be overrated but I can pick a lot better albums out than Arise and BtR.

Arise may not be the greatest, but to say that you can find albums much better then BtR is pure BS.

Well, for Thrash albums, they are, of course some may disagree.
BTR is in my top ten Thrash list.

I don't mind BtR or Arise; I just don't love it. It's just decent. Never heard any pre-BtR Sepultura.
