Whew! This thread reached 6 pages in quite a hurry. Reading through this mountain of thoughts, I have two of my own:

1. Slayer, while good and very important to the genre, is far from being the most important band in the history of thrash.

2. Paul Baloff's vocals chew up Rob Dukes' vocals, spit them out, set them on fire, and then piss on their ashes.

Of course they're important, but the single most important? Why?

And have you actually listened to Rust in Peace, Peace sells or killing is my business? How can you call it fake thrash?

Why? Asking is a shame but I'm going to answer anyway.
Because they were the first REAL thrashers.

Ok i dont have anything against Slayer and besides that i think they're overrated i think they have put out some good albums but your fanboyism is quite annoying to be honest.

About Slayer being the most important band, well i couldnt care less and to be honest thats a stupid tittle to begin with but if any band deserves the recognition of being the first "REAL" thrashers that is OVERKILL my friend, yeah you read that right OVERKILL, not to mention that anything that OVERKILL has done destroys the shit out of anything slayer has done.

Got it? OVERKILL

Supremist is 23 and he started listening to Slayer ten years ago, so he was thirteen or fourteen when he discovered Diabolus In Musica. I think the general level of his posts and his music appreciation can be measured up to that.

You don't know anything about me.
The first Slayer I ever listened to was Seasons in the Abyss, then I got South of Heaven and Hell Awaits.
I think Diabolus is a good album but it's my least favorite Slayer with their punk covers tribute.

Yet, in these last pages, there is quite a lot to gather of your character.

Overkill > Slayer :dio:

I do agree there are some bands that deserve most important thrash such as Venom,Metallica,Megadeth, etc so it's hard to label as who are the most important.

I say who gives a crapolla I don't put labels on bands I just listen to the bands I like and that's that.

And none of those would have existed if Slayer hadn't.

Exodus?

Exodus have released one good album... Come on, let's be serious.

Exodus were pre-Slayer, to answer your point. And your Thrash logic is seriously screwed if you think that Exodus have only released one good album, but worship every nu-metal jumpdafuckup single from Slayer.

Hah nice post, but even Araya at his grittiest and most hoarse is still better then Baloff; I mean even Dukes is better then Baloff. This is in no way advocating the band rerecording Bonded by blood though!!!

Baloff = best vocallist ever

he also owns your soul

What I've heard of Slaughterlord if I remember they are pretty much a slightly faster Slayer clone. Older Sadus rivals Kreator on a lot of levels, probably not now since they make WWE anthems. I haven't heard Exumer yet though.. But I come on man your killing me WTF!! Balofff is seriously one of the worst vocalists in the genre!
