Comprehension fails so many of you when you can't get your head out your ass.
I'll quote myself:
Quote:
See my previous comment about Kimbo haters.
First off, the dude clearly has improved his skills. And the fact remains, he can fucking fight. He may not be a very skilled mixed martial artist, and probably never will be, but he knows how to fight.
Secondly, Houston didn't want to engage. Kimbo fought that fight near perfectly for someone still learning—and with much to learn, admittedly. He was very disciplined. He didn't throw wild punches when Houston refused to engage. He kept the fight at the center of the ring, kept his guard closed. He even showed some ground skills—and a fucking epic body slam!
Kimbo could do nothing better. Houston was running scared. Stupid fighters chase people down in situations like that. Kimbo showed far better discipline that you "MMA fans" are giving him credit for.
It's hilarious that it's Kimbo who refused to engage, when it was CLEARLY fucking Houston who was running.
Did I ask anyone to declare Kimbo the future king of MMA? No. I suggested maybe, just maybe, you give credit where credit is due. Doesn't matter who he was fighting, Kimbo showed a good deal of improvement and ring smarts. And for
that, he deserves credit.
Very fucking simple, folks.
As for Kimbo backing out of the fight, that was
smart! It was a strategical move. First off, everyone was telling him that McShitty is a kick-boxer who'd be kicking the shit out of his bad knee the entire fight. To Kimbo's credit, he knows what he is; he knows his time in MMA is severely limited. So in that light, going up against a dude that would have been kicking his bad knee all fight, the decision was easy: don't fucking fight.
If Kimbo lost that fight, he'd likely never fights in the UFC again. And if he somehow blew out his knee in the process, he never fights again, period. Even in shitty backyard brawls.
I think he backed out so he could get a fight in the future, which he got on the finale. It's more money than he would have gotten otherwise. A smart business move, if you ask me. Might as well make as much he can now. Nothing wrong with that, really.
