I'm enjoying the album as well, even more than you. It's definitely one of my fav albums of 2009. A 90+ score is well deserved in my eyes, everything is top notch considering this is an indie release.

Thanks for the review, Zad. I'm kinda excited about this one, as I know you're not a huge melodeath nut or anything... So to hear high praise from you for a melodeath band must mean good things.

I'll post my thoughts once I hear it.

Zadok, I must draw your attention (somewhat belatedly I admit) to the fact that I definitely took note of your last review of Be'lakor's 'The Frail Tide', and have thoroughly enjoyed it the few times I've remembered that I actually have it buried somewhere amongst my labyrinthine music collection...being Australian myself it was quite refreshing, nay, exciting to see a band of my countrymen receiving such high praise on such an esteemed website...By the way this is in fact James who occasionally pops up and chats to you on MSN :D been a long time I know, we've both been busy I'm sure...anyways great review, I'll be sure to hunt this down ASAP! Cheers...I'll try to remember to join my opinion to the chorus after I've heard it.

I've listened to the CD and I thought it was pretty solid, and I suppose worth the score, but I wasn't really blown away by the album or anything. It's very well done, and I can't really think of any complaints, but being a melodeath nut I'm not really stirred up or anything by this.

I think the last melodeath album that kinda got me excited was Holographic Universe, because that was an extremely varied album... But yeah, this is good stuff, and I appreciate the heads up on the band, Zaddius.

So I'm reading the new Terrorizer, and come across an advert for this album. Guess whose review they used a quote from?

Very nice man. :D I came across multiple references to my Ensiferum review while looking for other reviews for From Afar. One site put words in my mouth though.

They cut it up a little, splitting two separate sentences and putting them together, but it's good, free advertising for the site, so no worries.

That's very true, even though I did NOT call From Afar "Ensiferum's best album to date".

As I just took a shit on one of Zadok's other reviews, I thought I'd take some time to NOT take a shit on this one. Thank you for introducing me to this fantastic band, and this excellent album!
