Woohoo! We won! Fantastic game, and kudos to the U.S. for that- it could have gone either way easily. I know it may suck to get the silver after getting so far, but seriously, the team and fans should be very happy with how the U.S. played. And particular kudos to Ryan Miller, who is just fantastic. Them's the perils of Olympic hockey though- one game elimination.

Very fun olympics in general, and this is coming from an Olympics cynic. Though I apologize to the rest of the world for those closing ceremonies. Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morisette and Simple Plan, all in a row? I AM SO SORRY. And my poor eardrums are too. And we didn't even get Rush in retaliation! Way to make the whole world think we suck, VANOC.

Well, that must be nice in your bastion of socialized healthcare and mooses and beavers but the rest of the world may not have access to a remote control or a channel knob or even alternative channels to change the station to. Yet you lumberjacks obviously failed to recognize that when you decided to flaunt your maple leafs and pseudo-skater chicks and non-trailer white trash bands, persecuting the whole world's ears to the sounds of mutilated camels fucking a tractor which is known as Alanis Morisette's singing.

Anyway, forgetting the disaster that was the Swedish team, that was probably the most entertaining international hockey tournament I've seen in my life time.

Now back to the NHL regular season. It's gonna be interesting to see how the break affected the teams. Will Olympic players be mentally unfocused or will they benefit from playing hockey while others went on vacation? Not to mention the trade deadline and the changes that brings. My guess is some playoff teams will quickly sink out of contention while some bottom half teams start tearing it up. I just pray the Kings will have the mental toughness needed to refocus.

I'm interested in how Demitra will play on the Canucks. He didn't do much since he came back from his injury and was down to the 4th line, but he was one of the best players in the Olympics.

 Best post ever.

As for beer competition: The US defintiely has some awesome microbreweries, but I'd say that ours are their equal plus our non-microbrewery beers (Moosehead, Keiths, Rickards) aren't complete shit and thus we win.

Trade deadline day mafuckas!

Poni boy is gone to Pitts for prospect Luca Caputi and d-man Martin Skoula and then the Leafs traded Skoula to New Jersey for a 5th rounder.

Yeah... Hurricanes trade Aaron Ward to Anaheim for Pogge and a fourth rounder. Scott Walker to Caps for a 7th rounder. Stupid.

Kaberle to waive his NTC, kinda..

The biggest trade is the Wolski to Phoenix for Mueller and Kevin Porter. I know so e Avs fans who are sad to see him go, and I would of liked to see the Leafs go after Mueller.

It's kinda sad that that is the biggest trade so far.

Toskaloss traded to Calgary for Custis M.

Haha

Kings acquire Jeff Halpern and Fredrik Modin. Excellent bottom six additions, much needed depth. A top 4 defenseman would have been nice but at least now we actually have use of all four lines instead of having a battleship (Ivanans) and a pair of rookies on the fourth.

Hey Toronto, thanks for trading Alexei and ensuring that Boston gets an awesome draft pick, since now for goal scoring you have... Phil Kessel and... Phil Kessel! We really appreciate it.

Sincerely,
The Northeast Division

Yeah.. puke.

Anyway, Canes got rid of a lot of players yesterday, including Corvo who got us one second rounder, Brian Pothier and Oskar Osala who's a pretty exciting prospect. Pothier is decent I guess.

many Leaf fans have accepted the fact that Boston will get a top pick. I'm kinda excited for Luca Caputi, has been decent for the Pens and is a former 50 goal scorer in junior. If Boston gets Taylor Hall or Tyler Seguin or Cam Fowler whatever, shit happens. The Leafs will still suck.

Plus Poni is a UFA, did you actually expect the Leafs to keep him?
