Awesome. Still haven't had a chance to get this yet but will do some time this week.

Prog elements don't sound weird to me in Cathedral at all, really. Looking at their artwork, and their flair for long, descriptive sense, it makes perfect sense. Can't wait to hear it.

I listened to The Garden of Unearthly Delights last night for the first time and really enjoyed it... sounds like this is QUITE different, but I'll check it out all the same.

This was written in contrast with the blunter elements of The Garden Of Unearthly Delights. I honestly have no idea how people will react to some of the songs, or even if they'll find it as big a deal as I did, but it seemed a real step sideways for them. Kickass album, after many listens.

I'll have to listen to this again. On the first spin I didn't really like it. The first song is wack!

I actually just discovered cathedral a few days ago. Haven't heard this album but I will have to check it out soon. Cathedral are playing the Sweden Rock Festival this summer which I am attending. Looking forward to it!

Great review Zad, cant wait to hear this, i thought from you initial impressions that you were gonna rate this a lot lower.

Yeah, it did take me by surprise at first, but I soon got into it. I think proper Cathedral fans will love it once they get their heads around it; casual Doomers might be harder to convince.

After several listens all i have to say is wow, fucking wow this shit is brilliant!, i was quite concerned about the lenght of the album but now i actually think its perfect, there are no fillers to be found here and the "weird" tracks are actually now becoming my favourite tunes, the experimentation mixed with the classic Cathedral sound makes this a highly enjoyable listen, they took the risk and they succeeded.

Completely agreed with your score and review Zad, and even though im fucking loving this album im still not sure how other Cathedral fans are going to react, but for me this is becoming my album of the year.

BTW  at Journeys Into Jade lyrics.

Almost finished listening to it. Genius album, very headbangable but it has a lot of twists and turns to keep things interesting. Great sampling too, especially on Immaculate Misconception and Painting in the Dark.

Great album! The grand spectrum of Cathedral.

I loved this album. Poppy in a few places, prog in a few others, but as voxmonster noted: the great spectrum of a great band. Journey into Jade (the lyrics) and Funeral of Dreams (Dorian's incredible vocals in the verses) being the obvious highlights.
