Maybe I could finally get around to play it.
Thoughts?

Do it. You'll love every bit of it, the first instalment especially.

Now, if only they'd take the trouble to release System Shock 2 on Steam...

Deus Ex I may actually pick up someday. How compatible is the Steam version with Windows 7? Also, are there any mods available that update the graphics?

Well, I bought the collection last night for my Windows 7 laptop (thanks for the heads up Zeth!) and had no problems with compatibility in the couple hours I spent with it.

I have been wanting to play these two games for awhile now, and this will be the perfect opportunity to get up to speed before the third installment comes out later this year.

Well, unfortunately, it'll probably be a while before I play'em, since I bought two games on Amazon.com today on impulse: GTA 4 and Final FAntasy Tactics A2. Mainly since I've had my PS3 for about five months now and have only bought one retail game for it until now (namely Resistance: Fall Of Man), and I only had two DS games until now (one of which is Final Fantasy IV DS, which I only play when I listen to 1991-released music, which is usually only twice a year - yeah, I'm kind of obsessive compulsive like that  ).

What is nerdy about history?

I was kinda making a joke, saying that a thread about video game wasn't nerdy until all this history talk

Haha, I guess I forgot it is self-evident that gaming is nerdy.

Seems to be a few to pick from. I bought it but haven't tried it or any mods yet.

Apparently, the mods (graphical or otherwise) won't work on a Steam copy unless you mess with the .exe file and some other parameters:

By the way, to Fingon and other M2:TW players, download the Stainless Steel mod if you tire of the regular game. It makes the campaign map much bigger, with some new factions added to the map like Lithuania and Norway, new settlements and a supply line system. Good stuff!

Played the new L4D2 campaign The Passing, which is okay but nothing spectacular, and the first mission in Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising. That expansion looks promising indeed. The first half of original DoW2 was faceroll-easy then switched a gear and became really challenging on some missions and they were all kind of samey (though still fun). Chaos Rising kicks off by being more of a challenge directly and I'm liking that.

I just got Stainless Steel, and I have a Byzantine, Kiev, or Novgorod campaign all lined up after I crush skulls in the Teutonic Campaign as the HRE.

Played some Reach Beta tonight. :dio: Whoa, I'm going to have to get used to this. Matches are intense and because of the altered control scheme, I tend to die much more often. I did play the most awesome game of Oddball ever though, and nearly won. I also like the new weapons; the Covenant Assault Rifle in particular is going to be a favorite of mine, I think. But what really surprised me were the mother fuckin' JETPACKS!! They controlled really well and were a blast to use, particularly on that Oddball match I just mentioned. The whole experience is just really good, I even like a lot of the minor tweaks that have been done over past Halo games. I'm just not used to losing so often.
