nothing wrong with that. More Canadians on either Chicago or San Jose then both Montreal and Philly/Boston combined.

Montreal has 14 Canadian players on their Roster at the moment.
San Jose has 15 and Chicago 20. So, your statement is totally fallacious since Boston(12) and Philly(17) both have well above 5 Canadian players...

I can't believe I am saying this, but with Boston on the verge of an epic collapse I am grasping at straws: if Boston loses game 7, I want Montreal to win. Halak is my hero!

I shouldn't have predicted Boston would win the cup then stopped watching their games. They need me!

Also go Montreal, the good Canadian team!

FUCKING AWESOME! Such a great game and night. Bring on the Bruins!

Seriously, DW, you think that it's absolutely certain that the Bruins will take down the Habs? Rask is great, no question, but so is Halak. Both teams are playing team games, both teams have key players injured. I'm not saying Montreal is winning for sure or anything, but seriously, they've taken down the number one team in the league and the Stanley Cup champions, and you think there's no way they can take on the Bruins?

Ok I'll take back some of what I said, but Boston plays a much better defensive game then both Washington and Pittsburgh and Rask has been waaaay better then both Theodore/Varlamov and Fleury. Bostons main problem is their lack of offense now that Krejci is hurt. But, we are both jumping the gun here. Boston has not yet eliminted the Flyers. Philly has all the momentum and the road team has been winning the games 7s lately.

Now if the Flyers beat Boston, well then damn. I don't know who to pick. The Flyers eliminated the Habs the last (2?) times they've met in the playoffs. Let's wait to see what happens tomorrow night before I start defending myself.

Interesting stat from another forum:

Quote:
For what it's worth:

Halak - 45GP - Still Alive
Niemi - 39GP - Still Alive
Boucher - 33GP - Still Alive
Rask - 45GP - Still Alive
Howard - 63GP - 2nd Round
Theodore - 47GP - 1st Round
Quick - 72GP - 1st Round
Bryzgalov - 69GP - 1st Round
Anderson - 71GP - 1st Round
Nabokov - 71GP - Still Alive
Brodeur - 77GP - 1st Round
Luongo - 68GP - 2nd Round
Elliot - 55GP - 1st Round
Miller - 69GP - 1st Round
Fleury - 67GP - 2nd Round
Rinne - 58GP - 1st Round

Of the 16 goaltenders who have started the bulk of the playoff games for their respective teams, 11 played 50+ games this regular season, 5 played fewer than 50. Of the 50+ start group, Nabokov is the only one left (1/11) with 87 having been eliminated in the 1st round and 3 in the 2nd. Of those with fewer than 50 games in the regular season 4/5 are remaining with Theodore, who had the most starts of this group having been eliminated in the 1st round (Vs Halak).

I guess if you are going to blow 3-0 series lead, you might as well blow a 3-0 lead in game 7. Good thing I naturally shun the legions of moronic Flyers fans in the area.

They should move the Bruins to Hartford after this.

Halak for world leader. :dio:

Unbelievable.

Also, I will always approve the return of the Whalers if Brass Bonanza comes back as well.

Wow. What a choke. Bruins... I wanted our conference final together so badly. The one time I want you to win in my entire life and you do this! Wow.

No no, Sid the Kid's gonna take this one in 4, trust me. Then he and Ovechkin can face off at the Stanley Cup finals.

Montreal in 6.
Chicago in 7.

Then Chicago will lose in the Stanley Cup finals, obviously. Hossa will get traded to Montreal and then Chicago will win the cup next year. In fact, after Montreal wins this year, the only teams that will win the cup for the rest of the time Hossa is in the league are Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Detroit and Chicago.

Did the Habs play amazing? No. But the score is deceiving. They played a decent game, particularly offensively, with some bad defensive holes (ie, penalty kill, taking incredibly stupid penalties). Halak and Price were bad and Leighton was great. Otherwise, I thought the game was even until the end when all the energy kind of got sapped out. Still, happy this happened in game 1 and not anywhere else in the series. They and Halak can bounce back from this. And before people start getting automatically depressed, declaring everything about the Habs' game awful and saying that Halak is going to choke (as many people already are), see if this sounds familiar:

-Halak has a bad game and is replaced by Price.
-The penalty kill is awful
-Montreal gets six goals scored on them
-Despite all this, Montreal holds the lead in shots and the game is generally even

Ya, so that was game 1 against the Penguins. The moral: It's just one game and a lot can happen after a bad game 1. Granted they did score 3 goals that game, but I honestly do think that Leighton played a fantastic game tonight- he made some extremely hard saves. Anyway, kudos to the Flyers, and we'll see what happens in Game 2.
