Yeah, all I needed was a little impetus.

Dio's unfortunate passing made me get the Dio-Sabbath trilogy, and spinning those reminded me that Iommi hasn't written a weak riff in his life and then I just couldn't resist.

Iommi is the best guitar player ever. He may not be the most technical or skilled, but in terms of quality, quantity, consistency, and pure awesomeness he is by far the best.

Yeah, he's definitely right up there. Once people start talking about the best guitarist ever - if such a thing is quantifable - he gets overlooked a lot. It's only the metalheads that ever think he might have been the best. Downing and Tipton get overlooked too, but that's kind of harder to judge because it's not just one guy, and there's no evidence that one is awesome without the other.

Anyway, the guy is a genius. Whether riff, lick, solo or sound effect, he plays interestingly on every track of every album.

Was gonna buy Minus the Bear - Omni today because I don't any records I'm excited about listening to right now but they wanted 20$ for shipping so fuck that

I hope Foxy Shazam or Blood Command's albums get vinyl releases soon.

Stefan Koglek is the best guitarist 'cause he's got the skills and the melodies and the rockness as well as ability for quieter more introspective stuff. Iommi is probably the king of badass riffs and solos though.

The only problem is .. they aren't metal. If we can pick any guitarist on the planet, why not just start naming Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton?
