Nice job, Thomas. I'm with you about 95% on this review. It's so funny because I have actually been fist pumping to Black Sails! I do probably prefer Iron Will, but Hammer of the North is an all around excellent album which I have given a ton of listening time and will continue to rock for years to come.

Sorry, I disagree, there is doom here, just as much as on Iron Will, maybe a little less crushing and a bit more melodic.

I think you find distinct bits and pieces of it in songs like Mountains be my Throne, especially the riffing on The Lord of Lies, Bond of Blood and Ravens Guide Our Way.

Maybe... Bits and pieces are not enough. Iron Will had the right balance of HM and Doom. This one draws too close to trad. HM.
