Yeah and the worse thing for England suporters is having to watch the Scottish go on into at least the semis without us.

I don't blame Soares, I blame the rule.
In my opinion, when a field player stops the ball on the line, there should be goal anyway and a yellow card for the player who commited the foul.

Suarez took a chance and sacrificed himself for his team. he did not try to fool the ref (just look at his reaction when he got the red card).

It doesn't work like that and never will. Penalty kicks are an ingrained part of the game.

This was a goal, not just a "may-have-been-a-goal". For usual fouls I'm alright with penalty kicks but, in that particular case, there should be a particular rule.

Damn, Germany. Just....damn..

Regarding the Suarez thing, I see that as more legitimate than some of the bullshit that goes on in football (diving, timewasting, etc.). I don't see why a player shouldn't be able to intentionally commit a handball in a situation like that--I see it as a strategic move, a last resort kind of thing that gives teams one last hope at winning. It's pretty much exactly like intentionally fouling at the end of a basketball game to make the other team shoot free throws. I put the blame there on Gyan for failing to make the penalty kick...

I feel exactly the same way. I actually used that basketball analogy today when I was talking to somebody about it. Definitely not cheating.

I see it more like a ball blocked on its way down. And that's a 2 or 3 pointers in basket ball.

fully agreed. he did not even pretend, he took one for the team. i for one commend his cold blood, most people in that situation wouldn't even think of putting their hand to it.

as for Germany... wow. wow.

Ok, I see your point. However, those are the rules in basketball. Everybody knows them and plays by them. In soccer, a handball in the penalty area results in a penalty kick. Everybody knows this rule and plays by it, including Suarez. Strategic rule breaking is part of most sports. Sometimes you have to way the options. Obviously penalty kicks are not automatic, so in this case Suarez made the right decision, regardless of whether Ghana ended up making the shot or not.

When rules are stupid and unfair, rules need to be changed. That's called evolution but the FIFA is incapable of such thing.

Absolutely sleep-inducing playing by the Spaniards. They're going to get crushed by the Germans.

I'm not so sure about that. The Germans will not build ramparts on defense the way Paraguay did and that leaves a real chance for Spain to do their stuff.
