I heard one song off of this on Music Choice at some point and it absolutely in no way is as close to as bad as this review claims.[butters] I thought it was pretty good. [/butters] Maybe the one song was good and the rest sucked.

Their latest is more or less passable, but I have absolutely no interest in this style of music now bands like Annotations Of An Autopsy and Trigger The Bloodshed have dropped the bad parts and fused the good parts with their own form of Brutal Death.

While i have personally scored this slightly higher, I can understand the annoyance that you had with the album. It can border on repetitive but the music at least is far more intense than Trigger the boredom.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I would probably laugh at a lot of bands that I (still) like if I would have heard them today. There is just so much and so little reason to compromise.

Whitechapel is terribly boring and kinda absurd when you think that they have 3 guitarists all chugging endlessly away almost exclusively on the bottom strings of their 7 and 8 string guitars... I mean, if you think about it, why the hell do they even have a bassist? It's not like they need to fill out the bottom end of their sound or anything. It's actually kinda laughable.

I know what you mean as the guy really doesn't give the band the extra oomph. But taking deathcore for the obstinate bastard it is, increased technicality is only as meritable as the band that can make their music worth
'.

The first paragraph of this review left me disgusted. Grow some fucking nuts, man! Even if you absolutely loathe the so-called "scene", at least have some dignity and stop acting like a bitch online just to "piss them off".

For the record: I do not enjoy this band, nor is this my favorite genre of music with distorted guitars (God forbid I'd call this metal, right?). Just clarifying.

Maybe not in such harsh words, but I agree with this. It's pretty silly and pointless to bash bands on YouTube just to piss kids off.

I prefer Whitechapel to A7X. And yeah, that first paragraph is bollocks.

For the sake of conversation:

This is where things get confusing to a lot of people. I'll keep it simple and say that sometimes bass is played on a lower octave but it actually has a much more bright timbre than the guitars. Rush does this all the time. People just have crappy systems so they can't hear the bass being played unless it is below a certain frequency. I can do this with my voice easily, hitting the same note in the same octave but either make it sound bright and thin or fat and warm. Lemmy talked about this with his Marshall Cab, that it has an extremely ridiculous amount of treble. People often can't "find" the bass in a song. Case and point, And Justice For All.

Having 3 guitarists for this band is outrageous. 3 guitarists work for Maiden, but hardly are necessary for Whitechapel.

I think you guys need to get some reviewers on board who are actually cool with deathcore. I guarantee this isn't as bad as it's being made out to be. Gonna listen to it even though I've never really bothered to check out Whitechapel.

This guy also gave Disfiguring the Goddess a 5/100. So, why is he reviewing deathcore? He clearly hates it.

So, yeah. DLed this. Add like 43 points to your score, Tony.

Also listened to their new CD for a couple tracks, which was a bit more stale IMO. Seemed like someone is trying to get them to change it up a bit and it wasn't going in their favor. Currently listening to their album In Exile.

I like this album alright, though. Probably will hang on to it. It's not amazing but I like me some breakdowns and burping vocals.

Have you checked their new one out yet. It has added a great deal more solos and melodic leads. Though the chugging remains

I bought This is Exile because I went to Download Fest in Uk this year and wanted to be familiar with all the bands there. It was worth listening to it so I could jump around with all the kids at the show, and they put on a decent gig, but it is far from a memorable album.
Was a bit annoyed with the review, too. It was kinda funny, but slamming an album just because you hate the genre is bordering on unprofessional.
