I got sent a credit card unprompted with my student account when I was fresh out of sixth form and amassing vast debt at university. Our economy is built on debt so I thought they would be keen to hand them out.

I have basically no credit rating, and earn under £10k a year. That doesn't mean anything across t'pond? Blimey.
I make $13k a year and have 5 credit cards and the debt that comes with them, mainly car repairs and textbooks. Bought food a few times when I was broke but mainly just larger purchases I couldn't afford on my salary. I have 3 department store ones with zero balances which I pay off as I use (got them to get the sales price on things). With companies like Capital One and banks like Chase being ridiculous with lending, it's pretty easy across t'pond.

Really, no discussion on this?

Hm, interesting. Apparently I have missed the debt boat!

Afro, what is there to discuss? Obviously not a time-traveller, even without the text below the pic.

Well... You're right, there isn't much to discuss, ESPECIALLY with the provided text. I just thought it was cool is all.

My opinion: World's first hipster.

Surely with Capital One. But I never wanted one from them. Some banks, particularly smaller ones, are very stingy with giving them out.

I never thought about it that way but it actually sounds very plausible.

In fact, the average person does not "listen" to music but rather "hear" it. I like to represent it this way.

That is also true. And frankly, that's alright. What bugs me is that it's usually those people who tell you that the music you listen to listen to (metal, ofcourse) is pure noise.

Not so long ago, I played some children of bodom to my mother and her main complaint beside the drums being too loud, was the fact that she would not be able to hear the melodies (like there isn't enough). My conclusion: When you're not used to harsh vocals you're mind can't focus on anything else and the only thing you hear are the tracks wich are very loud (compared to pop music that is).

You know, I'd love to investigate that in a psychological research.

Seriously that would be awesome. So much interesting things to observe and philosophic questions without answers to come up with. :dio:

I like pictures where an old timey person looks very modern. This is another one:

I can see where she's coming from. A lot of other types of music (I want to say most) have a bigger emphasis on melodies than metal. Even in the more melodic styles of metal, the guitars are about even with the vocals while in pop or whatever everything is a backdrop for the vocals or lead instrument to play over. I noticed this switching from Holly McNarland to Slough Feg (who I'd consider pretty catchy for a metal band) and being amazed at how, in comparison, Mike Scalzi's vocals are practically smothered by drums and guitar.

This reminds me of something one of my professors wanted us to think about (although afterwards he never mentioned it again which made it pretty pointless). He said that some argue that a philosophical question is no longer philosphical from the moment it can be answered by science.

Would that make positivism a paradox?

Despite my limited knowledge (so far at least) about this, I can understand why one might think it would. On the other hand I don't think that this statement forms a real problem for positivism because positivism rejects metaphysical philosphy and theology since it cannot be empirically investigated. Obviously there are lots of other questions left which are situated in different philosphical domains. If positivism can answer those solely using scientific methods and thus making those philosophical questions scientific, it still wouldn't be a problem since positivism argues that real knowledge only can be found in facts proven by science.

But, as I said earlier, I might be wrong about this since I don't know as much about it as I wish I did. I'm working on that.

Psh dude on the left would look just like a nowadays person if his slacks were replaced with jeans. And compared to dude on right it's p obvious which would look more out of place now.

So if you need to replace his clothes to make him look modern, he doesn't presently look modern, does he?

For fuck's sake, that thing had me giggling all the way through.

"Her family's dead"

"Did she eat them?"
