Saying that Abigail Williams sounds anything like Leviathan is insane as well.

Not a Leviathan fan?

Not particularly.

But I recant my statement!

Judas Iscariot has some fairly decent stuff... I meant to say:

"Nearly all USBM blows, in my opinion"

Agreed with your last statement, but there is so much of it out there that some of it is bound to be good.

Great black metal can come from anywhere for me.

When I first heard Absu I figured that they'd be from the same parts as Melechesh. Then I figured out they were from Texas.

If anything, I really hope that the best metal would come from America simply because it would be easier for me to purchase and easier for them to tour!

My favorite bm band comes from Japan, so I don't really care too much about location.

Saying Abigayl Williams is USBM, is a huge insult to USBM.

They're from the US and they're black metal, your point is moot.

Umm USBM has stylistic descriptions.

They're about as black metal as Stryper.

There are some good songs on here, no doubt. Some even sound Emperorish. Who am I to deny it?

Yeah, which is my guess as well, and which opens up a number of follow up questions.

Hey, this band isn't black metal?!

Oh, I see what you did there.

It's a terrible descriptor then if, somehow, a black metal band from the US can be excluded (despite Steve's protestations at the fact). I know what bands it's usually associated with, but that still doesn't make it any stronger in value.

Sigh is my favorite black metal band.

Along with Mayhem, Darkthrone, Emperor etc. I usually prefer the classic second wave bands and the sound that has expanded since then. Wolves in the Throne Room is USBM and are one of the best atmospheric black metal bands around. Abigail Williams is a band that I used to really hate and they really surprised me. Whether it is good or not to someone is all about opinion, but I have a good feeling that if you showed this to someone randomly and said that it was from a new Ihsahn album, most people wouldn't be so quick to shit all over it.

Erm, there's a good amount of Metalheads out there that do shit all over Ihsahn's albums.

Why don't you like Ihsahn? The vocals?

Ihsahn's first album still bugs me, vocals in particular. But his second was much better and his third (despite too much sax) was utterly brilliant.
