Alice in Chains / Deftones / Mastodon at Molson Amphitheater in Toronto.

After waiting in line for nearly an hour to get in, I arrived to catch the last half of Deftones. I mean, for a place that size having 4 people doing pat-downs is criminal. I hope somebody gets canned for that decision. I had already caught Mastodon last year, so that wasn't the end of the world.

Deftones are awesome, no doubt about it. They played most of Diamond Eyes (was still able to hear from outside) and every song sounded like a hit. Their sound was incredible, lots of energy onstage, outstanding performance.

Finally seeing Alice in Chains was a dream come true. I have liked them for a long, long time and their latest album is my second favorite after S/T. Their setlist did not disappoint, plenty of grunge for the dudes and fun for the ladies. William DuVall is one hell of a singer, and he plays rhythm guitar as well which fills out the sound nicely. Jerry is of course a definite A-list guitarist, everything sounded like it should.

I left satisfied.

Just returned from seeing Becoming the Archetype right here in Cape Town. What an awesome band!! Heavy and tight! All you guys in Europe and the USA are so spoiled being able to see so many great bands, while we have to make do with one every few years. So unfair!!!

They came to Havasu once, but I didn't know who they were until I bought their second album. They are pretty good for a progressive band, the guy has a really good voice.

Deicide, Belphegor, Neuraxis, and Pathology in March, some band called Blackguard is playing too but they sound like shit. What the hell are they doing touring with death metal bands, shouldn't they be playing with gay bands like Turisas and Alestorm?

I've seen Devy twice, once as DTB the other SYL. Both times he was amazing.

Saw Coheed and Cambria last night, amazing show. They played a good mix of old and new songs.

The university newspaper's editor might be able to score me free tickets to Motörhead on November 8th, and maybe a short interview.

Holy fuck holy fuck holy fuck.

:omfg: Way to be on the Devy ticket, Legacy.

I'm going to call off work tomorrow to see High on Fire, Torche and Kylesa.

I saw Rotting Out and Soul Control at a house show yesterday in Lincoln. Both are cali hardcore bands and pretty badass, particularly Rotting Out.

It was your typical house show. College kids, a shitty house, terrible sound, but enjoyable. I got into the pit and sang along with some songs. Good times.

Oh yeah and I schooled the shit out of the Rotting Out bassist on Marvel Vs Capcom 2. That was pretty sweet. They had it up at the house and a few games were played before the show started.

Kylesa is damn good live and their singer is like Cara gorgeous. The dual drum sets are so cool. I was always curious how that worked out and it's just outright fun.

Torche is pretty weak. The drummer gave me a broken drumstick and I later shoved him into the pit while HoF was playing but a nice guy.

High on Fire was killer as always. Pike fucked up the setlist and the other guys were just like no and it led to hilarity. Pike seemed kinda diva-ish but it's understandable I guess. He was having technical issues all night but just champed through it like a trooper. He gave me his pick. I was up front putting my fist up in his face all night. I hope he didn't mind.

And I bought a Baizley poster of the Static Tensions cover in red and yellow. So killer.

I've heard a bit of Torche's new EP, and I like it a lot more than I did that last album. Hopefully they can lose the crap elements.

It was a lot heavier life and not at all poppy. It was just boring.

Got a few days off work and bought some tickets to see Motorhead in Aberdeen in early November. Basically all I'm living for right now.

I will see you there.
Actually, drop us a pm sometime before, and we can meet up for pre-gig drinks if you like.
