So it's a rite of passage, so to speak.

Ha, yes, something we all must go through.

In other news, this is pretty fascinating:

Maybe some of you are actually taking part in this ridiculous thing, so just FYI, there's no way in HELL that posting a cartoon character as your Facebook profile pic will help prevent child abuse. If you want to do something about it, then get off your ass and DO something about it.

Yes. God, that Facebook "awareness raising" shit is tacky, useless, and borderline insulting.

I'm not sure how raising "awareness" will help ANYTHING. I don't think anyone will deny the fact that millions of children live under abusive conditions.

I changed mine to The Fox and the Hound because that's such a great movie.

The Fox And The Hound still to this day makes me all teary-eyed. Such a sad movie.

Mine is my avatar, currently, becuase it's Pokemon profile picture month (which differs from the sill cartoon "child-abuse-awareness" month bullshit because it doesn't have that tacky useless "look at how noble I am!" faux-activism garbage attached to it), and because Raichu is a total boss.

My profile pic on Facebook is Sudowoodo, for the exact same reason.

Yeah, because thinking Pokemon is cool is better than supporting an end to child abuse. Scumbags.

1) There will never be an "end" to child abuse. There will always be some drunken asshole out there who smacks his kid up for whatever reason.

2) Changing your profile picture does fucking NOTHING to support charities that actually help kids who have been abused. It's tacky beyond belief, because it's basically saying "Hey, kid, sorry your dad gets drunk and beats the shit out of you, but I just want you to know that I fucking LOVED Scooby Doo as a kid."

3) Pokemon ARE cool. You got a problem?

We don't think it's cool. We know it's cool.

And supporting the whole cartoon-pic-awareness-raising thing wouldn't support an end. It would support, as Legacy put it, lazy faux-activism that won't do shit.

Apparently sarcasm doesn't come over very well in text. Although I was serious about implying pokemon's shiteness.

I figured it was sarcasm, but I just wanted to share my 2 cents anyway.

If I was to define My Dying Bride, mainly The Dreadful Hours, as Victorian romantic doom metal, what would be some similar bands?
