Paradise Lost? Anathema? That kind of Gothic, melodramatic Doom does seem to be best done by Yorkshiremen. Am sure there are more, will have to think.

Zad speaks the truth. The thing is, though, The Dreadful Hours had all the advantages of 2001 production which no Anathema or Paradise Lost metal album could compare.

In many ways, later MDB is one of a kind.

However, their friends and countrymen, http://www.myspace.com/theprophecyeng comes awfully close. The Prophecy is definitely worth a listen.

The Prophecy is a great band. Anyone into the genre should check 'em out right away.

Also, the whole Facebook cartoon profile pic campaign was apparently set up by a group of pedophiles, since young children would be more likely to add someone with a cartoon character for their profile picture. Not sure how true that is, though.
