I'm in a fix. Meshuggah is playing her on 18th and Enslaved on 19th. The situation is such that I will be able to attend only one of the shows. I've listened to very little of both bands. My mind is tilting towards Enslaved. So, should I go for Enslaved or Meshuggah?

Listen to the newest stuff of both bands and go to which one you prefer.

Having seen both bands live DVDs, I'd think Meshuggah would be the better concert.

Enslaved is an enigma. They've been around forever, released countless highly regarded albums, are basically legends in the scene, yet they just don't seem like they have 'it' when it comes to headlining. At least in North America.

And they are by no means poor when it comes to their live performance. They are fine live...but I don't think their material, at least the second half of their catalog, translates well to live shows.

Due to some shitty circumstances at work, I am forced to cancel my leaves and won't be able to see either band. Fuck !

Seidr is a side project of A's from Panopticon. Kinda stoked, considering seeing them in Louisville.

That sucks. I heartily don't recommend you check out the newest Meshuggah DVD--that would make you rage.

Saw Kylesa, Clutch and Righteous Fool. Kylesa is sooo sick. Got to shake hands with Laura Pleasants and talk a little. Clutch just interests me in no way. And Righteous Fool was some really good retro heavy metal with thrashy riffs thrown in by old COC guys.

Borrowed Time/Failed/Wastelander/Fork-Ox (I think)

Borrowed Time were great! And apparently their new drummer went to my high school. So that was weird. Failed were a sludgy-Neurosis-y type band which I wasn't exactly in the mood for at the time. Got a new Wastelander shirt, one that fits! Fork-Ox (Four Cocks) were, eh, okay. They covered "dad-rock," as it were, and while all the covers were competent (Kansas!), I didn't care about most of them.

Saw fucking Motorhead with Clutch opening last night. Good show, even if Lemmy is a bit hard to understand. Holy shit are they loud.
