I think Zakk is a good guitarist and the only thing that was good in relations to Ozzy but I think BLS is just too overrated.

I think he needs more song structure on his albums and maybe they'll be worth getting.

I'm not sure the reviewer was listening to the same album I have been for months. The album is full of great guitar work and songs. Sure, the ballads aren't that good, but how many ballads are? If you've listened to the last 1000000000000 BLS records, this one is par for the course. In which case, if the passed 10000000 weren't your cup of tea, maybe reviewing this one wasn't up your alley.

Godspeed Hellbound is a awesome song.

A 7/10 really doesn't reflect the criticisms in the actual review. Honestly, I have no desire to listen to another mid-paced BLS album. He just needs to man up I guess.

That's fair, trapt--I actually wrote this with a higher score in mind, then talked myself down based on the lingering impression I had while I was uploading. I probably should have noted that these tend to be my feelings about BLS anyway, so fans will probably have no issue with this one.

That's kinda troublesome. I don't know. It's not like I would want a fanboy review but if you really don't dig the band then why review it? Critical engagement requires some kind of distance, not out of aversion but willingness to really fight with the album, while enough interest the band to really propel you to put the effort into it. Whatever.

I don't think having prior feelings about a band precludes my reviewing it. I went into Order of the Black wanting to enjoy a Black Label Society album. A great many times in the past, I have disliked a band until hearing a new album that changed my mind. That didn't happen this time, so that's what I tried to reflect in the review, but I absolutely did not pick this album with the intention of using it as a forum to trash BLS.

I guess so. That's respectable. Now that I think about it I would probably be in the same boat. Love the idea of BLS but probably would've been disappointed as well.

Okay, so I don't really like these guys, but Parade for the Dead is one killer track. Is the rest of the album like that?

I'm with those who enjoyed this album, even though it's definitely not as awesome as the earlier, and certainly faster and heavier, albums. I think this is a step up from Shot To Hell, which I found to be pretty inconsistent. It does sound like Zakk Wylde is running out of ideas for amazing heavy metal songs, and the ballads just don't cut it.

I checked it out on the strength of Parade of the Dead, and I was disappointed to find that it wasn't representative.[/i]
