It wasn't very nice of Palin, but blaming her for the shooting is a bit much. If she put targets up now, after the shooting, that'd be the time to protest. And yes, lefties use as much violent rhetoric as righties - interesting I've been universally ignored above, I seem to have alienated absolutely everyone with the 'more left-wing terrorism than Islamic terrorism' link, commies and conservatives.
And sorry, but it has to be said: Americans always have easy access to guns. And as ever, it seems mad from this side of the pond, but I guess taking them away from everyone would be a worse solution.
Anyone see that interview with the father of the 9-year-old? Heartbreaking. That's ultimately what should be discussed, the human cost, not the bloody political impact of Sarah bloody Palin's website.
You're right; guns aren't going anywhere.
It's part of our collective consciousness, like cars.
Again, you're right; what really is sickening about this whole thing (other than the senseless tragedy of it, of course) is how quickly and cynically it was exploited for political ends. It took, what, an hour? And the sherriff should resign over his "opinion" of what could be the motive.
Irresponsible at best.
Check this piece out, speculating how O can use it to rally the sheep up:

As was the case with Clinton, Obama may be able to remind voters of what they like best about him: his sensible demeanor. Amid the din and ferocity of our political culture, he respectfully keeps his voice down, his emotions in check and his mind open.
That is the pitch, at least. The trick is to make it without seeming to be trying to make it. He will, after all, be speaking at a funeral.
