Good review and I agree with the score. It's not as fluid as My Winter Storm but it still is a solid release and proves that Tarja can survive without Nightwish.

By the way I did enjoy the Still Of The Night Cover. Not as good as the original but still a decent cover.

IMO this is much more fluid than My Winter Storm. That album was all over the map in terms of her song writing ideas and the orchestration, where as What Lies Beneath is a more controlled effort that flows better. A much improved effort from Tarja this time around.

And has there been any word on when we can expect a new Nightwish album?

Good album I also like the last one, "Still Of The Night" cover is interesting Terrana's drumming being the highlight.

Well see here is where I think it's the opposite. MWS was very fluid where WLB is all over the place.

Still a good album though.

ADD schizo on coke is all over the place .. this was not.

I'd probably call this something like 'adult contemporary metal' .. very enjoyable, don't regret the buy at all.
