one of the best players of his generation. at his best he was legendary, and despite his injury he's still one of the all-time greats in my book.

7 yellows and 3 send-offs. Rangers were hilariously shite, and Celtic absolutely dominated. Amazing game.

Benfica's 18-game winning streak finally came to an end at Braga this sunday. away, to a club that hates us, or at least pretends to hate us because their management is dominated by friends of FC Porto, and with an exhausted team, they still had to rely on one of the most shameful (or should i say, shameless) displays of biased refereeing i have ever seen:
http://videos.sapo.pt/paulopinto1991/zz ... Zqvmrz6sjf

it's a long video, but for anyone doubting what i say about FC Porto and the Portuguese league, here's some evidence.

a goal was wrongly disallowed (that's 2 or 3 this season), Javi Garcia was wrongly sent off, the local supporters constantly threw golf balls at our players (something first and last seen at... FC Porto's stadium! what a surprise!), and ridiculous yellow cards rained on Benfica but barely any for the cheating assholes Braga.

to put things in context: Benfica were, like i said, on an 18-game winning streak, and even at 8 points behind league leaders Porto, our corrupt rivals from the north were terrified, and ordered this disgrace on our beloved sport. we're 11 points behind now, and with 6 games to go the title is all but lost.
last season, Benfica were champions just a few points ahead of Braga, who had their all-time best season. Braga is managed by former FC Porto star Domingos Paciência, and their chairman is FC Porto president Pinto da Costa's close friend António Salvador (he is often seen with Pinto da Costa at FC Porto matches). two Braga players are set to join FC Porto next season, and a further 1-3 are at Braga on loan from Porto. Unlike last season, Braga have been disappointed and aren't even in the European access positions.

disgusting, sickening, embarrassing, disgraceful.

Too bad Scottish Premier League is so much crap.

I miss the times when Celtics and Rangers were formidable competitors in European Cups. Now they just, I don't know... just lay there, thighs wide open.

they can't win away matches lol

Porto became Portuguese champions today, defeating my Benfica in Lisbon. we played terribly tonight though... terribly. they also take a massive step towards becoming undefeated champions, a feat only accomplished once before, by Benfica in the 70's, as all their next league matches are fairly easy.

i can't believe the shameless, rotten, corrupt northern piece of shit club FC Porto is about to soil our hard-earned record, with what is in my opinion one of the dirtiest seasons in the last 10 years in Portugal.

Wow, you seem really upset :D

Why dirty ? We only have results of Portuguese championship here, not specifics, so I'm interested.

And hey, you can still win the Europa League ! Eliminating PSV Eindhoven should be a piece of cake, then you beat Braga in semi-finals, to finally humiliate Porto in Dublin. How good would that be, huh ?

i'd probably jizz in my pants if that happened. but what if we lose the final against Porto? and PSV are no pushovers, by the way.

Benfica started off the season very poorly, not adapting well to the sales of Di Maria and Ramires, and lost 4 matches right then (terrible, considering last season we lost only 2 games), including a 5-0 thrashing away to Porto.... and a ridiculous 2-1 defeat at Guimarães with terrible refereeing. then from December to 3 weeks ago (i think) we won every single match - 18 consecutive games in all competitions, a Portuguese record - with the winning streak coming to a stop at Braga, where again we were shamelessly ripped off by the same ref that 2 years ago saw David Suazo get kicked in the face and didn't even give a foul, and with the same linesman from the Guimarães match. i linked to a video of this match a few posts ago. 11 points behind porto at that point, we openly gave up on the title and started playing our bench to keep players fresh for the cup and Europa League.

meanwhile Porto had 3 wrong game-changing penalties awarded, 2 giving them victories and 1 tying a match.

on youtube there are entire fucking phone conversations of FCP president Pinto da Costa speaking to refereeing and media authorities, trying to choose refs, force players in our out of suspension and more, with references to "fruit" and "coffee with milk", probably talking about prostitutes. Porto hasn't denied the veracity any of this content, but because these phone taps were not legally obtained they're worthless in our courts.
rewind back to the 90's and you see Porto players literally chasing referees on the pitch, shouting and intimidating them but getting no bookings, you see invoices for a referee's trip to Brazil arriving at Porto's offices, and still nothing happens.

Wow. I hate football so much for these kind of things. Referee mistakes, corruption, ridiculously huge salaries given to shit players...

I used to love the game, and in a way I still do, but... this is too much to stomach. We had (and still have, we just don't know about it) similar crap here in France, there are well-known stories in Italy involving hookers and money, the same in Germany, Eastern Europe championships are corrupt to the bone... I'm sure we can find stuff like that in Spain, but they are not even trying to search for them.

And I didn't even mentioned doping. And what should we say about the decision to hold 2018 and 2022 World Cups in, respectively, Russia and Qatar, which both had the WEAKER bid of all the candidates ?

Well, anyway : fuck Porto and come on Benfica. As you know there are many Portuguese here in Paris area, and 80% are supporters of Benfica. It was very funny to see the Parc des Princes full of Benfica supporters, when Paris St Germain - Benfica occurred  You had the two games played at home :)

Say that again ?

Congrats for the solid win. It seems the 3 Portuguese teams did well, my little scenario wasn't that crazy after all...

A Rangers fan, a personal enemy of the club's President, who knows. I hate football for that kind of things.
