On that note, now that Scotland is SNP, Wales is Labour and Northern Ireland does as it pleases where does that leave the Tory/Lib Dem coalition in terms of being able to govern the UK as a whole?
Obviously our arguments are seriously flawed. I can only repeat what our party bigwigs have been saying lately - neither the media nor the public understand the difference between compromise and betrayal. Coalitions are natural to the rest of Europe... typical that we're behind in this manner.
By the by, Scottish indies should note that independence will likely mean permanent Conservative majority government in Westminster, as Labour will find it impossible to win the seats they need in the south. This, too, is interesting -

The Tories, despite significant losses, are up overall in terms of gained council seats. A very serious warning bell to us LDs - but those wanting a pact with Labour should look at the way those bastards have campaigned against us with their big red box of dirty tricks and think again.
Otherwise, one faintly bright spot for us was last night was that we weren't completely destroyed in Wales. Kirsty Williams deserves a lot of credit. Also, in towns where we have a Lib Dem MP, like Burnley, the Lib Dem vote seems to have held up. It's slowly becoming clear what we have to do and how we have to change as a party of local campaigners in order to make a comeback. Whether we'll manage to do that, or whether the leftist contingent will demand Clegg's head and cause our permanent collapse as a result is up in the air.
