Their previous album was a nice piece of tech-death so i'm curious about this one

I can't wait to hear this. One of the only tech death bands I like. I dislike the overly done production of the songs I heard, but at least with this style it serves its purpose.

Rated lower than Antithesis? Interesting. I'm really excited about checking this out. They're becoming quite the band after being pretty generic early on.

So Saliga is pretty much the best Origin song yet, just sayin.

I pre-ordered this a few days ago.

God I want it and this review has left me intrigued. I loved Antithesis. :dio:

Small confession here....
My stupid stepson (ok-he's not stupid and I love him to death, but....he's a lil' Metal knucklehead. Thankfully, he loathes BMTH and similar fare) bought home the Disfiguring the Goddess 'Circle of Nine' CD.....and I stole it from him.
What? He does it to me- alla the time!
He need to return my Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath CD, pronto.
(he lurks here- he won't admit it, but I know he does.....It's my computer, knucklehead....)

While I won't say that Disfiguring the Goddess is like, awesome or anything, it's so damn brutal and unrelenting that it may have ruined records like the new Origins joint for me for a while.

I know....terrible....I'm sorry....I did say this was a confession....

EDIT- I, uh, just went and checked out the review for the previous Disfiguring the Goddess CD.
Now I feel even worse....Curse you, 'slam metal' for being so darn brutal...
Confession #2- I'm over 40 years of age, and have been a metalhead since I heard Black Sabbath in the womb.
But this damn Disfiguring the Goddess 'Circle of Nine' CD, with it's weird little 'techno' sounds and Grindcore vocal stylings makes me stagedive off my computer desk.
Is it considered so bad we don't get a review?
Awwww.....

Circle of Nine is a sick album. I didn't like the first EP but Argon got his shit together. However, I don't know why you can't love the new DtG and Origin at the same time?

DtG really is head and shoulders above other brutal deathcore bands.

I've gone through about half of the album thus far, and I will admit this is a good improvement over Antithesis. The speed and nauseating sweeps are still there, but songs such as Conceiving death and Saliga display a band who are willing to change the tempo and include discernible riffs. It's decent overall, not something I'd ever buy but it's ok a solid 7/10

It's kinda like what happened to me when Suicide Silence put out their demo (sadly, I haven't liked anything they did after that. The Cleansing was just 'ok').
Damn, that SS Demo was so brutal that everything else I heard around that time seemed kinda 'tame' by comparison.

That's what 'Circle of Nine' is doing to me now. I'ts just stomping around in my MP3 player now....I try to listen to...other stuff, but it seems 'tame.'

It's a phase. It'll pass. Pitbulls in the Nursery had me for a while, too (miss them), and a bunch of others. Heh.

I didn't know Paul Ryan did the bulk of the vocals on this album. I thought Jason Keyser joined them in time for the recording of this...

The beginning of the first song sounds very similar to Hate Eternal's, "The Art of Redemption". It's not even close to being as cool, but is quite similar. So much as to make one think.

Just needed to say that I love this album and that what I said about the Hate Eternal song and the opening track of this album was just an observation about the striking resemblance of the guitar parts. After having sufficient time with both albums, I like this album better. Phoenix Amongst The Ashes is also phenomenal though. They are neck and neck really. That is why the similarity of those tracks struck me so weird.

Hate Eternal never did anything for me. That is mindless death metal at its worst. On paper it looks so amazing yet is so soulless.
