I love how turner uses light and shadows and how much his art leaves much to imagination.

His art fits well with doom metal of the most melancholic kind, me thinks.

Indeed. A very good poet too, although, he's paintings are something else.

I thought Blake was widely known and appreciated.

By Metalheads familiar with The Chemical Wedding, perhaps. Apart from Jerusalem (tune!) I wouldn't say he's widely known otherwise.

Well, the one's that are in the arts will most likely know him; but he is no where near as popular as say Dali or Da Vinci.

In Red Dragon, one of his paintings was fuckin' the mind of the assassin, so he ate it!

That's because Dali and Leonardo are in another league of awesomeness. But, yes, the common people is completely unaware of arts in general...

Why shouldn't we keep from criticizing other forumite's choices?
Arguing about ART is part of this forum's purpose actually.

Indeed, a forum is a place to express opinions. MS likes to bash people (especially Frigid), but the doesn't like to get bashed... if you live by the sword, you die by the sword :dio:

Oh yes. The common man is totally unaware of the arts and the artist in general. You see... Artists like Dali and Blake were both mystics of some sort. Dali described his paintings and insisted them to be called Metaphysical which does make sense. He also found music to be purely "charming" and nothing else. He was a very arrogant but brilliant painter. Blake was also a mystic but conveyed his ideas on to paint in a different sense because of his religious beliefs and also the completely different sort of view he had of the world, of course.
