Zad: Oblivion is my favorite game of all time, and I didn't use mods. Level scaling was noticeable, but never a bother. To be honest, I'm surprised that anyone cares. In my opinion, the game is DEFINITELY worth getting, regardless of mods or no mods.

Even if it is something that bugs you, I just can't imagine it being so bad as to ruin the experience.

Heatseeker : To be fair, level scaling is not a bad thing per se, but the way it was implemented in this game was a pain to me. It did not prevented me to spend 60 hours on it the first time I played it, granted. But it killed replay value until I figured out how to make mods work properly.

Another game by Bethesda using level scaling is Fallout 3. While imperfect, the system used in that one is a lot more subtle and fine tuned. Skyrim leveling system is very close to Fallout 3's it seems.

Fridge : You can install Windows on a Mac, with Boot Camp. I did it on my MacBook Pro, easy as pie, really. All you need is a Windows installation disk.

You can install Windows in a Mac with bootcamp, very easy. I use OSX for my work as graphic designer, and the Windows partition for gaming and piracy.

EDIT: didn't see that already Bruce gave you the advise

Being attacked by bandits wearing Daedric armor is just stupid and unreal. If people are too lazy for modding, just install these two: Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul (OOO), and Common Oblivion (COBL). It's like a new game with only those two installed. And of course the Unofficial Official patch, which corrects a lot of bugs and errors in the quests.

Seriously, I'm studying abroad in Chile right now, once-in-a-lifetime experience, but I can't wait to go home and play fucking Skyrim for 12 hours a day.

Orcs shouldn't be allowed to have hair, though. Or at least anything resembling normal hair.

I concur on both points. I think I'm going to take a week off in november, to do just that. Well, if I can.

Another picture, showing the evolution since Morrowind (Oblivion is in the middle) :

Wow, Oblivion's character models look plastic and shitty in retrospect.

My hair is longer, I've got a shitty beard, and I gained 20 lbs. Compared to these days, I also have a -50 penalty in Athletics and a +50 bonus in Willpower.

No really, you're better off playing a Khajiit.

Damn, I won't be able to decide between Argonian or Nord. The Khajit look amazing, something they've never done before.

I tried partitioning my mac once, it didn't work. Something about certain files not being in the right place. My screen's cracked anyway though, so I might just need to upgrade anyway.

I'm going to play my first game with a male Nord, role play style. Skyrim is the land of the Nords after all. Besides, I've never played a Nord before.

I stated somewhere in this thread (a few weeks ago, when you changed your nickname) that my first character would be named after your new nickname and would be female. I don't feel like playing a female first, though (lucky you).

For those who don't know who Cu Chulainn is : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%BA_Chulainn

It fits well.

Is a 'Nord' nerdspeak for 'person of Norwegian extraction' or 'Viking'? I tend to call my characters things like "Hiriam Fuckspittle III" being a big kid.

I'm calling my character either Cu Chulainn or Fionn Machuill.

AFAIK this is just how people from North of Tamriel (the world of The Elder Scrolls series) are called. They are "human" and pale. They often look like Scandinavians yes.

And, LOL.

I think I'll be either a Nord or a Khajit, but like Bruce said, I'll most likely be a Nord because I'll be playing in their homeland.
