Got this some time ago. I did not like it. Very talented musicians, but not my thing at all.

Interesting stuff, but definitely too little constraint when it comes to the songwriting.

The parts in The Quantum Symphony where it's absolute chaos give off a Sleepytime Gorilla Museum vibe, and I do like that, but it's just too chaotic and the song changes too many times.

Very good review, and I'm glad to find someone else appreciating them so much.

There is no sense demeaning a great album because it is not as great as another. That would be nonsense because now I have two albums that are worlds apart but bring me to the same great place.

After a few weeks I can whole heartedly agree with this. Unexpect produce drugs through sound waves and both this and Aquarium makes me high.

I would not say that the length is of any problem though, since every single track is so astonishing it's impossible to grow tired of them. Silence this parasite just comes smashing in at the exact right time and contains some of the best moments they've ever done; like 1.53 - 3.05 where the song just accelerates into pure bliss.

Words is mesmerizing. There are a lot of really pretty moments on this album, which I did not expect. Gotta give it more listens to sink in, but I really really like this album. :dio:

The musicianship is undeniable and the singer has a great voice BUT this stuff is just too complex. This album is the musical representation of what my migraine headaches feel like.

This album is the very definition of Avant-Garde/Art Metal. I think it's somewhat less chaotic than their previous albums. This album is more mature in sound in my opinion which means a more listenable and understandable album as a result.

I kind of want to check this out, although it's not really what I'd define as my thang. Loved a couple songs off their last one, way back in the day, although my tastes have changed a lot since then.

At least they're definitely doing something interesting/new, though, which in my opinion can't be said for more than a few metal bands out there nowadays.

Art Metal? Interesting.

Edit: listened to the Quantum Symphony in Youtube, the female vocals seems out of place. Dunno, seems like I'm not in the mood for this shit right now.

There's a lot of talent in metal nowadays with no songwriting to back it up. This is a problem and Unexpect is a good example.

Seems less frantic than Flesh Aquarium on a first listen. There really honing the eclecticism without it jumping too quickly, too much.

"Words" seems like a breakthrough highlight but other tracks seem like the typically awkward Unexpect I remember.

Anyway, deserves much more than a '0'..., but I can't see myself reaching for this. I find something like Winds much more easily digestible.
