Not really surprised, no. Only a bit annoyed by the gaming industry these days, at most. Fucking Bethesda. :)
And yeah, no need to rush things, you're right. Mods will be unplayable and too few at first, I don't think I'll play mods until late 2012 myself.

Did the same. Still great fun.

Is there any chance in hell I'll be able to play Skyrim on a Macbook?

Probably not. It's probably for the best that I have Skyrim on console, since I do all my work on my laptop and the distraction would life-wrecking...

Same here, i have (well, I was given by my employer) a MacBook Pro which should own Skyrim's ass fairly easily, but there is no chance I install a game on it. Especially not that one. :D

I've Oblivion in my Macbook Pro, in the Windows partition. I use the Windows side for gaming and piracy, and the Mac one for my job. Works like a charm.

@Heatseeker: if you have the latest Macbook Pro I think you can play Skyrim without problems.

Traded a bunch of games at Gamestop: Dragon Age 2 (played it about 30% through, I think, before I quit out of boredom), Alan Wake (finished it, pretty cool) and Halo Reach (played it for 10 minutes, meh)

Traded them for Red Dead Redemption and Enslaved: Odyssey to the west. Also found a used copy of The Last Remnant at a very low price.

I've only played 30 minutes of RDR and so far it's underwhelming, I'm sure it'll get better though. The Last Remnant is very underrated. It only got 6.5/10 at Gamespot but deserves atleast 8/10. Enslaved is so far the best game out of the three. It's a beautiful game with consistently awesome action sequences.

Also planning on saving up money for a new computer which I'll hopefully be able to buy in November. There's no way I'm missing out on Battlefield 3, Skyrim and Diablo 3.

Enslaved is good, but gets repetitive. Must stick RDR on again, not tried that in a while.

RDR is worth it. A bit short though, finished it in 20 hours.

Downloaded counterstrike and I can't connect to any servers. Bollocks.

You can play Team Fortress 2 for free on Steam, if you like. I never personally tested it - for this genre I dislike -, but I know it works fine.

For some reason TF2 wouldn't connect to the servers :S the tutorial worked fine, so I know it's not the gameplay, but it wouldn't connect.

Another French preview states level scaling is returning in Skyrim (Pete Hines would have said so, apparently). I am waiting for a confirmation before shooting down random strangers in the street.

The most surrealistic act, indeed. At least according to my friend André Breton :P

Doubt it. Bethesda has made it clear that they realized they made a big mistake with level scaling and that Skyrim's approach would be more along the lines of Fallout 3, with areas that you clearly should not be in until your character is much more powerful. It won't be a deal-breaker if level scaling DOES return, but still, this is the first I've heard of it if it is indeed coming back. And I've read a lot of Skyrim previews. Like... a lot.

This one is a fun read: http://www.ripten.com/2011/08/25/one-ho ... -hands-on/

And yeah, I know, me too. I'm hoping for incompetency of the aforementioned French website.

Here's the thread about the "article" on the official board : http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/t ... th-august/

25% are worried, 25% claim this is the worst news of their entire lives and that they want to shoot themselves, 48% are in disbelief and/or blame translation issues, 2% are bashing the French as a whole.

It would be an incredibly retarded decision if they actually implemented that shit again. Level scaling is the opposite of what makes an RPG fun. I don't see any reason to play an RPG without rewards, which is why I never could play Oblivion in its original state.

Nah don't worry, Pete Hines just confirmed (twitter) level scaling is close to what we had in Fallout 3, not in Oblivion. Jeuxvideo.fr's "news" was rubbish. Sorry for reporting it in the first place.
