I think that, as always, it depends a lot on what people expect. Whay they expect to get from listening to this kind of music and what they expected from Edguy.
This kind of music (and Edguy) is not a gourmet dish that's for sure but it all depends what you're after. Maybe you like to consume things that make your brain whirl at insane speeds all the time, sure there's a lot of music and a lot of bands and albums for that too. But you know what, I might also like gourmet food but I can't spend 2 hours cooking in the kitchen every day, sometimes I just want to sit on my ass, relax, order a pizza or a hamburger and just enjoy the hell out of it!
And what about what was expected from Edguy specifically ? Well, was anybody expecting anything different than what they produced ? I think the signs were clear from their latest couple of albums on what they enjoy and want to do. Is this what I expected? Well yes and no, I dare say it is a pleasant surprise being actually better than I was afraid it would be! And for the genre it belongs in, this is actually a great batch of songs, with only the occasional downer. I actually really really enjoy it every time I listen to it and that's why I gave it a 89.
P.S. "Two out of Nine" appart from being a super-catcher has fucking crazy lyrics as well!
