From what I've read, it's not too different from Lou Reed's 70s noise explorations which I liked, not all hope is lost. :P

Yeah a friend of mine who is a really big Lou Reed fan seems into it. He says it reminds him of Berlin era Lou Reed.

Hmm. To each their own, I guess.

Anyway, people are not going to say Metallica has sold out this time. Bad or good, this move was quite unpredictable and seems to be a genuinely art-motivated one. At least, there's something to be happy about.

Great thing about Metallica is that I don't regard their new releases as essential anymore unlike other currently "malfunctioning" bands like Iced Earth.

So if it sounds shit, I just ignore it.

On the other hand I frantically buy Iced Earth on the hope they'll improve.

Took me 2 In Flames albums to realise this with that crew and their malfunction just got worse as time progressed. One dud album from the Haunted stop me buying them as well.

Got:

Fleshgod Apocalypse - Agony

Finally getting around to buying up the Tony Martin era. Now i just need the other 4 Martin albums to complete my sabbath studio work collection (yes, I even have Born Again and Seventh Star!). Annoyingly, the last 4 Martin albums are out of print at the moment and testicle smashingly rare.
