Probably the worst thing Metallica ever did. Worse than St Anger or Reload or the big shit I did last night.

This Lou Reed fellow sounds like an alcoholic waste of space and all round oxygen thief.

Doesn't bother me Metallica did this. I dunno why they did it but if it floated their boat then so be it.

Like a mixture of Skepticism's tribal-esque drumming, Incantation's slower riffs, Inquisition's occult atmosphere and a lot of Satanic horror film samples. Beautiful occult/ritualistic death metal

I'm very please with this band. Excellent songwriting, beautiful soundscapes, an all around great piece of post-black

First spin. A friend of mine think it's the best prog album of 2011, we'll see...
Loved the first Amplifier for a while.

A prog album with the name The Octopus? That calls to mind a pretty freakin' famous (and wonderful) prog album.....dangerous ground, I hope they live up to it.

You're refering to Gentle Giant's Octopus, I presume... Both album are totally different and each belongs nicely to the time it's been released. Amplifier's The Octopus (a double album lasting 2 hours) is a lot to take on a first spin but definitively shows a lot of potential. It's modern prog in the good sense of the word (modern).

Another winner for Old Steve. Really, Hackett's one of the most underappreciated artists of his generation, and one of the very best too.

I like this quite a bit, definitely elegant and different sounding. Thanks for pointing them out.

Awesome techy prog death that metal proves you don't have to write soft pop shit to be "progressive."

One of the best melodic DM albums ever.

Yum!

EDIT: Forgot how phenomenal an album this is. Again early melodic Death Metal with a ton of brutality.

Alcest - Écailles de Lune

Acest - Souvenirs d'un Autre Monde

Alcest - Le Secret (re-release)

Been listening to these heaps in preparation for seeing Alcest on the 28th.

I've discovered that as long as I don't expect Alcest to be black metal, I like them :dio:
