Wicked fun! :D Need some practice to play the pro level (rookie's far too easy), but good sensations. I'm going to have an effin' blast. :dio:

edit: fuck I even like how Anthrax's I'm alive is in the game. Haha.

This must explain why I like it in-game. I'm getting better, enough to start a be-a-GM game. How many seasons do you manage to finish in say, a year's time, Dev ?

The farthest I've made it is about 5 or 6 seasons in. I use to play every game (4 pre-season, 82 regular season, and anywhere from 16 to 28 playoff games) so that's a lot of hockey. Now I sim every game except for the last game of the week. I don't play pre-season at all, and I only play elimination games in playoffs. But for all the games I dont play, I'm editing lines, making trades, signing players, just keeping busy with the other stuff. Every NHL team has an AHL affiliate that you can also take complete control of in Be-A-GM, so for all the games I don't play I am monitoring my farm team. All this talking about it, I'm gonna have to go play some today...

Thx again Dev, the game is beyond awesome. I'm using your "play the week-end game only" thing, pretty good to play that way. Simulation results seem adequate enough. I really like the fact one can have a lot of fun with this game even though he sucks at it. The "leveling" is well-thought.

edit: Ah, actually sim results perhaps are too player-friendly, are they not? Just sim'd a week, playing Canadiens (of course): home win 3-1 against Panthers (OK), then another home win 3-0 against Flyers (wut?), followed by an away win 5-1 against Bruins (WTF.) It almost feels like cheating :D

It all depends on what difficulty you set Be-A-GM to. Also possible injuries for those teams, and the fact that your team just may be on a hot streak. Montreal beating those 3 teams in 1 week is nothing too out ofthe ordinary. It's happened before. Just watch out for the injuries to your guys and the inevitable losing streak.

I guess I'll be playing it with medium settings. Question is, is it better than on an xbox...

Quick question for you, do you set players training, or do you let the cpu take care of this?
I finished my first season, got owned by the Hurricanes on the 1st round of the playoffs. Haha. Also, I find trading good players to be tough, do you have tips to offer? :D

You can set individual players to practice certain things or you can let the computer take care of it. As for trading, all I can say is you have to give to get in NHL 12.

In other news, just beat the main story to Arkham City. Now time for side quests and riddler trophies/challenges.

Yeah I take that back, it's in fact almost too easy when you start giving away your draft positions.

Yeah trading away draft picks makes things easier, but if you plan on doing a multi-year career with one team then you should try to hang onto as many picks ass possible. Are you playing with salary cap on or off?

On. Love it by the way. I'm at the beginning of my third season, I'm planning to do all 25. I don't have 1st, 2nd or 3rd picks anymore for the years to come. I thought that was OK because my amateur scouts are shitty anyway (I'm putting my task points on the medic and assistant coach first). Am I in trouble? :D

1st offensive line:
Zetterberg, Benn, Stewart

2nd off line:
Tavares, Hall, Voracek

3rd off line:
Eller, Morrow, Parros

4th off line:
White, Moen, Lessard

1st def line:
E. Johnson, Subban

2nd def line:
Visnovsky, Ekman-Larsson

3rd def line:
Wilson, Vandermeer

Goalie: C. Price.

Plus a couple of 80+ guys and some 74+ dudes. I try to sign wonderkids, to compensate my near-complete absence during the draft. Plus 1-2 free agents (good grampas, such as Lidström last year, Visnovsky and Morrow this season). Currently, 20 games played, 15-5-0. Seems to work so far.

edit: 19-6-1 now. I may need to increase the difficulty level.

3 seasons in and 4 toilet seats left. Good job. Trade Subban for Shea Weber and you've rid yourself of all the shit.

I'm still only 40 games into my first season as Toronto. My lines, for the most part, are still true to form.

1st:
Lupul - Connolly - Kessel

2nd:
MacArthur - Backlund - Kulemin

3rd:
Brown - Lombardi - Armstrong

4th:
Rosehill - Dupuis - Orr

1st D:
Franson - Phaneuf

2nd D:
Liles - Schenn

3rd D:
Aulie - Grossman

G:
Reimer
Gustavsson

Made trades for young guys like Scott Glennie and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Still have most of my picks. And have 20+ wins (don't know exact record) 40 games in. Will I win the cup? Probably not. But I should make the playoffs and compete.

Have you won the cup?

When it comes to NHL/NFL stuff i am totally lost. Anyway, i've recently been playing and picking up Battlefield 3 which is pretty good, awesome multiplayer as usual. Dark Souls, which is pretty fucking brutal and it delivers on the promise of certain death and ball breaking difficulty...i love it hahaha. Also picked up Batman AC which is all kinds of awesome. It's as good as Batman AA and then some so go buy it now!! Also finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution and The Missing Link DLC, and i have to say it is one of the best games i've ever played, from the story to the gameplay its all golden, love the atmosphere and music too. What else...I also try to fit in some Gears 3 as well.

Coming up in November i am very much looking forward to: Skyrim (my most anticipated game this year) Uncharted 3, Super Mario Land 3D, Zelda Skyward Sword, Goldeneye 007:Reloaded, COD MW3, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Rayman Origins, Dodonpachi Ressurection, and NDS: The Run....whew, that's alot. Damn this is going to be an expensive month!

Ooh yeah, so, so many good games to buy, going to need all 2012 to play all this. And yet some people say video gaming is dead and was much better in the 90's. Fucking LOL.

Dev: 2 years actually, because the first season I tried to play it "true" to the team and trade no-one. Then I figured the guys were insanely overpriced and/or not as good as who I could find elsewhere, hehe.
Sadly I haven't won the Cup yet, got owned by the 'canes both times early-on. 1-4 the first time, 3-4 the second. I lost the 7th game 2-4 even though I was leading 2-0 at first intermission, fun giant slap in the face which made me focus on trying to defend more effectively. Boy that game is awesome if you get past the learning curve.
And as for Subban, he's progressing pretty fast (83 overall at the beginning, 86 now). I love crushing left winger bones with him. But he's starting to cost me a few bucks so, I may get rid of him next summer indeed. However there's no way I'm getting rid of Price, the guy saved my butt so many times... I want him to lift the Cup at least once. He probably is overrated in the game though, compared to real life.

So Dev, did you win the cup? I just lost the DAMNED FINALS 2-4 against the Wild. Minnesota, dammit. How could I lose.
But awesome season nevertheless, and now I'm up to make this team even better by making savvy trades... if I can.

I won the cup a couple times in NHL 10, once in NHL 11, but nothing yet for NHL 12. I'm still in my first season. Work and Batman Arkham City and Gears of War 3 have limited my NHL play time.
