No you did not, buddy. The season's still long, and I'm sure you're going to kick my ass in a few weeks when our teams meet.

For guys in the pool, or interested in it, I have an idea for next year. Why not create two leagues, a regular one (like the one we currently are in), and an alternative one that would not be demanding in terms of drafting time? Here are the three options I see for this alternative pool:

1- A draft based on teams and not individuals.
We would draft teams (Canucks, Bruins, etc...) instead of individuals. 3 teams per player. The rule is simple: you can pick players (by free agency) ONLY in the 3 teams' rosters you chose. For instance it you picked the Canucks, Leafs and Kings, you can't pick Ovechkin or Stamkos. But the other dudes can't pick Sedins, Kessel or Kopitar. The draft would be very short (3 rounds). Ain't it fun? No? OK, second option:

2- Playing with another guy's roster.
Once the draft for the regular pool is done, you play in the alternative one with the roster of someone else. So there's basically no draft here. But here's the fun part, trade between players would be possible! Could be interesting. To determine who's got to play which roster, we can use randomness, or some other system you guys may think of (auctions, rankings, etc.).
And last option:

3- Picking players you already picked in the regular pool is forbidden.
There would be a draft, in which you can't pick players you already picked in the regular pool. Obviously the draft would be an "autopick" one, live and offline would be too tedious.

What do you think? I like the idea of having an alternative roster, because if things get ugly with your first one, you still have your second one (by nature entirely different from the first) to have fun with. Besides, the draft times are minimum and not an issue with the 3 options. My personal favorite is the 2nd one.

Ehh, I'm already managing four fantasy teams as it is. Any more than that and I would probably go nuts. :P

But out of those three I like the first one the most. How would we determine who gets what teams?

I'm not saying we should do this now, it's just some ideas for next season. To determine who gets what teams (option #1):
- a simple "draft" (teams instead of individuals, using the nifty tool Tompa used the other day)
- or/and we can use our current pool's final standings. The guy who ends up last this year's got the first pick next year, etc. If we have newcomers and/or quitters, let's just do a "draft".

Yeah, I know it's for next year. All the leagues I'm in are renewed every year so I would most likely have the same amount next year.

Some good ideas that you've clearly put some thought into, but I'm with Meta. I've got a couple other pools that I do on a yearly basis with money and other things on the line. So they get the majority of my attention. Not saying I ignore our pool, but to have 2 pools going just makes things difficult for some people. If we all agree on these changes, then I'm definitely down to try. But as of this moment I have to vote against it.

No problem, and to tell the truth I didn't have to put much thought in this, for I dreamed about this. I woke up thinking "hey, those are actually interesting ideas". Yeah my life is that dull.

Pro leagues, by any chance? Or something else? I'm interested in joining a pro league next year, always fun to play when there's a small wager at stake.

I'm in a points pool with my cousin and like 16 of his friends. We have 23 man rosters and it's a $50 buy in. It's intense and I suck.

I'm also in a pool with some old work friends that is the same style set up as what we do. It's a $40 buy in; me plus 11 other teams.

If it happens you're in need of people for one of those next year, I'm your man.

In other news, did you people see Brodeur's save last night? Kessel was like "Man you gotta be kidding me..." :D It didn't prevent him to cash in his 2 pts though...

What's Phil the thrill at now? 20 points in 12 games? Disgusting. Nobodies hating on Burke for the trade now.

* is proudly wearing my new Kessel shirt *

Indeed. Speaking of comebacks, I'm making my way out of the basement. Here I come, Dev.
