Some shops here are selling the console version starting... tonight. I'm waiting for the PC version, I can't game this week anyway. And I don't want to play it in french language. But still... tempting.

In the Netherlands as well.

Time to start avoiding forums and spoilers.

They're bringing out HD versions of Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 for the XBox?! *adds to must-have list* *starts praying for MGS 4*

I've never played an MGS. So it would be a good idea they released remade versions.

The first was brilliant, back in the day. Fond memories of playing it on a friend's PS2, always regretted that I never got the sequels and was seriously tempted to get a PS3 just for 4.

Been playing Battlefield 3 on the PC, it's a lot of fun multiplayer. Not as fun as MW2 was when it first came out, but it's good. Briefly tried the campaign but didn't enjoy it. Maybe once I get sick of multiplayer.

And you can count me as another Civilization nerd, one of my favorite game franchises for sure. I played the original on my old Amiga 500 and have kept playing the series ever since. I never read any forum, strategy guide or anything like that so I'm not particularly good at it but hey, that's what the difficulty setting is for anyway :)
My favorite is probably Civilization 2, I don't know how many times I played that World War II scenario. I think Civ V is my least favorite so far but maybe an expansion or two will save it.

You know what's crazy? I've been watching Starcraft 2 almost as a professional sport of its own for over a year now (released July 2010) and it's still fun. It's a huge e-sport with tens of thousands watching any given tournament and by now they've probably given away a couple of million dollars in prize money.

Oh indeed, it's going to take a lot to salvage it. But I'm like you, I somewhat have hope. To me, Civ4 > Civ2 > Civ > Civ 3 > Civ 5. If that makes any sense (I don't think so). My first Civ game ever was Civ 2. The first time I played, I started at 9 in the morning, and finish at 10... the day after. Yeah, 25 hours feel like a couple of minutes in this game. I'm almost glad they butchered Civ 5, I have so much free time now...

And Korean Starcraft players are inhumanly, frighteningly good, yeah.

Oh and let's not forget the spin-off: Alpha Centauri! Marvelous game. I wish they'd do a remake of this one, but that's highly improbable as EA's got the rights.

Hah, Alpha Centauri, I haven't thought about that game once in almost a decade. It certainly had a charm of its own... I've almost forgotten everything about that game, I liked it but I can't remember much about it at all...

Youtube, here I come :D

Same here. I don't play a lot, maybe 10-20 games per week and it's usually 4v4, but I follow every major tournament. I'm looking forward to MLG Providence which is in one week and Dreamhack Winter in two weeks. Especially MLG Providence, I think the MLG is the best tournament so far.

A few months ago I heard a rumour that EA renewed their rights to the trademark 'Alpha Centauri', so I wouldn't immediately despair.

May Noodz hear you. I'd buy it in a instant, even if it's crap.

In other news, 8 hours left before my social life ends. Australian/NZ people get to play it right now. They said it's great and they've posted pics, it's quite beautiful on High and Ultra video settings. Low and Medium are what you get on an xbox apparently, which is good enough. Can't wait...

Yeah, MLG is always a lot of fun since they usually have great players and casters. I really wanna go to a Barcraft sometime soon.

So the time has finally come. Alduin has returned. See you in a week a three, chaps.

First thoughts before going to ZzZzzzZZ (no spoilers of course):

- the interface is crap (I'm talking about the menus). It's the same than on consoles, and it sucks balls IMO. It's going to be modded I hope. But for the time being PC users, don't try using your mouse to navigate the menus, just use your keyboard. Much more convenient.

- the tutorial phase is much shorter than in Oblivion, which is a good thing. I even liked it.

- auto-healing. LOL. Give it a week - top - before it's modded. What a joke.

- the normal difficulty level seems to be a complete joke. You can up the difficulty of course, so it's not an issue.

- My PC which is a bit below recommended requirements to play it with 'high' settings, runs it at 'high' smoothly. No frame rate drop so far. No clipping. And the game looks good. Not utterly magnificent, but definitely good.

- Loading times seem to be a little bit too long for my tastes (but i'm picky). Probably the price to pay for an otherwise very well optimized game.

More spoiler-free thoughts later. But so far, so good.

The interface looks like it was designed with consoles in mind. I'll be playing on Xbox so I'll probably dig it.

That honestly sounds less cheap than resting for an hour to completely restore your health. You can still rest though, right?

Noted, will play on a higher difficulty level.

Eh, this doesn't bother me much as long as the load times aren't as long as Morrowind's. That was just torture.

Getting it for my birthday next weekend, my body is so ready :dio:
